  1. I find her maiden name way cooler tbh I suppose "mäki" has the same meaning in Tommi Mäkinen's name? (the rally driver, duh).
  2. Obviously Poland beating Kazakhstan is a major upset!
  3. Tiffany Gauthier 4th - just 0,01 behind Holdener!
  4. Yeah, it's rather obvious if Vlhova wants to challenge for the overall she has to add the speed events to go with slalom & GS. This being said, Brignone is making a very strong case herself.
  5. Goggia crashed hard into the nets!
  6. Brignone slower than Holdener... in a Super G!
  7. Rebensburg crashed and allthough she got up it feels like she's strained the left knee or sth.
  8. Stephan Leyhe wins his first World Cup event in Willingen. Sunday competition has been called off due to high wind forecasts so Leyhe also wins the otherwise artificial Willingen Five.. cough.... Willingen Three
  9. In Poland there remains a running gag about Czech ice hockey players: Popil, Poruhal a Smutny We even have memes about that:
  10. Shame we don't have many members. I recall Krista Lahteenmaki's name was supposed to mean something like "Tree by the bay" "Lahti" in Finnish means "bay"
  11. Not to mention Krystyna Guzik (nee Pałka) - Christina Button (nee Stick) Łukasz Szczurek - Lucas Little Rat
  12. Last time I checked 67% of Dems voters would support a guy who has the biggest chance of beating Trump? The ideological change Sanders preaches will bounce off the wall if Bloomberg makes a Grand Slam entrance as the "only guy who can beat Trump". The fear of Trump reelection is probably bigger than any reasonable idea Sanders or Buttigieg can come up with to win the nomination saying the positive things. There's nothing positive about the Dems process, getting rid of Trump anyway, anyhow is the main thing IMO.
  13. That should silence the "flat and boring" critics for a while
  14. It was what, ca. 2009-2011 when Ukraine played in the Division A? They were like Russia B double if Kazakhstan is also Russia B until today like they are in tennis as well. I suppose some of the best Ukrainian juniors switch nationality to Russia, that enables them to have a great career in KHL even if they have no shot of making the Russian NT. I don't know how it works in KHL with double nationality? I suppose players with a single Ukrainian passport aren't exactly welcome there?
  15. This whole "state isn't representative enough" talk is BS. California and New York are probably the most racially diversified states in the USA, right? Then we have Texas, Florida and New Mexico due to the huge Latinos presence there. Illinois is probably the most diversified with a black presence. Scrap the whole Iowa, NH, South Carolina crap and just settle in the big markets, whoever wins California and New York should be the ultimate choice. Most of the rural states have no real influence to begin with. Has there ever been a President from Idaho or Wyoming? Probably not. Nobody cares about this. I said before that Bloomberg follows the Trump's path. Old white billionaire who has enough money not to be reliant on the party funds and meetings. This is where the US politics heads to. All those "next Obamas" are getting swamped by the reality mud. Julian Castro is as good as done, likewise Beto O'Rourke. Buttigieg will probably follow suit since the ethnic minorities will ignore him and vote for old guys like Biden. Getting picked as Obama's running mate is Biden's biggest calling card that profits until today tbh. This is like an emotional Obama debt he is collecting right now.
  16. Sanders and Warren still split the progressive vote. One of them needs to go. Buttigieg has zero support from the blacks & ethnic minorities. If Dems voters think that Bloomberg has a better chance of beating Trump than Biden that kills Biden's chances too. Sounds like Bloomberg vs Sanders battle unless Biden rallies in the wealthy states AND scores a landslide among the black voters. What I don't know is whether blacks and Latinos will support Bloomberg? Dems have lost Deep South a while back, Biden is supposed to win South Carolina by a mile - a state with 60% of black population. Buttigieg will be slaughtered there IMO.
  17. Let's don't forget Bloomberg is stacking up cash to make his big entrance! It would be hilarious if all these candidates bleed out after months of campaigns and Bloomberg sweeps them in March
  18. beats 6-1. Ukraine must have fallen on hard times. I remember the days when we were the underdogs playing them I suppose that has a lot to do with the War in Donbas, most ice hockey players were Russian-speaking from the eastern part of the country?
  19. Wierer is probably the most popular female biathlete right now (at least given her social media numbers) Don't mess with the Queen!
  20. It's rather obvious Vittozzi is jealous and this season she's been unable to perform to last season's standards. To blow up a rant like that just before World Champs in your own country is very weak. I don't think she's gonna enjoy new fans anytime soon.
  21. Netherlands is even weaker, Poland leads 7-0 after two periods.
  22. Ideology doesn't win elections anymore. Most Dems voters will vote for a guy they think has the biggest chance to beat Trump, not because of values they share with that guy. Actually I stumbled upon someone talking about it on CNN. Media keep talking about this whole "progressive", "liberal", "moderate" crap yet it's not what most people actually think. Winning politics through ideology is so 19th century when ideology was required to battle the monarchy system. Basically all of the medieval monarchies have collapsed these days so people don't care about ideology anymore. Btw, Buttigieg is leading the predominantly white farming state of Iowa. But he had a problem with the black & ethinic minority voters who don't care about him being a progressive gay. So, where does this progression end? You vote for skin color, sexual orientation or ideology values like sociallism? Turns out these white famers from Iowa let a gay man beat the sociallist old timer like Sanders. I dislike both sociallism and the LGBT propaganda but if I had to choose between Buttigieg or Sanders, I'd go with Buttigieg. Sociallism is the bigger evil by far.
  23. Occam's Razor works for me Cross country is the national sport in Norway, if we get rid of the asthmatic frauds there will be many more ready to replace them - without the phoney TUE excuse. The massive decrease in endurance sports you fear won't happen either. The wholesale ban on TUE will force athletes to win the clean way like it or not, cycling has been dragged through the mud enough already, nobody will cry after Chris Froome & pals either. Bradley Wiggins has been rendered as media pariah after the jiffy bag mystery so yeah, heroes come and go and the world will always find new ones.
  24. It's called common sense. Sick people shouldn't be able to have a superior physical ability to healthy ones. Not to mention every member of the Norwegian cross country team is sick with asthma. If the sick people are able to dominate like that where on Earth are the healthy Norwegian skiers?
  25. This is how muddying the water works. It's not the drug itself that is banned but the illegal dosage. And then you get dragged into the picogram nonsense. I'd say BAN every TUE drug available and stop with the "80 picograms isn't doping" nonsense! Bradley Wiggins had to fall out of the public eye over Team Sky's "mysterious package", hell nobody wants him to compete in rowing anymore, anyone remembers that stunt he tried to pull off? He's completely gone from the media now, God knows his TUE crap excuse is suspicious as hell given how much doping there is in cycling.
