  1. Actually our most talented jumper Kamila Karpiel is injured and doesn't compete this season. Poland has decided to put serious notice into the women's jumping last year, we're way behind the eight ball but 6th place in the mixed team event in Seefeld WC proved we could make a run here if only the girls have a real coach and support from our federation. It has finally happened before this season.
  2. Kinga Rajda (128,0 / 127,0) finished 6th in the second Oberstdorf event This is her PB and overall best World Cup performance from a female jumper (previous best was Rajda's 21st earlier this season in Sapporo). 128,0 meters in the first round is the longest official jump by a Polish woman ever!
  3. I'd never guess that's a Dutch name, even from Surinam or something like that But that's a very good name if you want to be a global star in sports Not to mention cyclo-cross will never be a global sport... Btw, I somehow stumbled upon this race on ES and Polish commentators never noticed Brand had a saddle failure, moreover they said Alvarado has lost all the sprints to Worst in World Cup before and here she somehow won this to take gold?
  4. 1st run in Ga-Pa GS and Top 5 currently separated by 0,22. Kranjec with one big error which cost him the lead.
  5. JImenez Kasintseva was the youngest player in the draw. She will turn 15yo in August though she is older than Cori Gauff when the American won the French Open juniors in 2018. Still it's basically two years older than Martina Hingis who won 1993 French Open aged 12 and 8 months
  6. Haehlen somehow 3rd despite major errors.
  7. Brignone easily faster than Suter who had a horrible final section.
  8. Siebenhofer looks to have picked up some stomach muscle injury during her run.
  9. Sharapova was always accused of not being a real Russian and basically an American. Anastasia Myskina and Elena Dementieva were in particular against her and Myskina flat out refused to play in the Russian Fed Cup team if Sharapova was selected as well. As it turned out Sharapova didn't make her Russian Fed Cup debut until 2008, basically the year after Myskina was forced to retire due to a persistent ankle injury. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/tennis/4040243.stm https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2005/oct/06/tennis.sport21 Evgeniy Kafelnikov also went on a Sharapova rampage but he blasted everyone. https://www.tennis365.com/tennis-news/kafelnikov-blasts-federer-nadal-djokovic-sharapova/
  10. All Grand Slam events are organized by ITF - not by ATP or WTA Same goes for Davis Cup & Fed Cup.
  11. Kenin and Anisimova are what Sharapova was always accused of Not to mention she speaks Russian to her father-coach during WTA events (on-court coaching is banned by ITF) And well, 15 years ago she was still Sonya Kenin
  12. People losing time like crazy over the last 15 seconds...
  13. Mother Russia will be proud! Sofia Kenin is a Grand Slam champion! Worst PR nightmare for US marketing though
  14. There's no chance any man beats the women's record due to the expanded club level competition and senior women team being involved in the Olympic tree. Most top men stars would simply sit out a meaningless game that ends 11-0 anyway
  15. Well, I've had my run-ins with this guy before so I'm well aware he knows very little about our country (like Poland being a part of Kingdom(!) of Lithuania) despite pretending otherwise so I gave him a fair 0
  16. Ross Perrot was a billionaire who was no different than Donald Trump other than running as independent. @Olympian1010 wants to restrict money involved in politics, how is that even possible when billionaires like Perrot or Blomberg are the third option? Power always means money, always! Even if a country is downright poor, people who are in charge always have enough wealth to enjoy. It happened in the communist regimes as well. The otherwise most modest man in power in global history was probably Stalin but hell, he's the worst example of a world leader you will ever find.
  17. Double-headed Eagle is a tradition to Orthodox countries and the former Holy Roman Empire (aka the First Reich). Austria retained it after the HRE folded amid the Napoleonic wars. Obviously Poland never adopted the Double-headed Eagle as its coat of arms so you are totally wrong here (not for the first time when it comes to Polish history). On the scale 0 to 100 I give you 0 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coat_of_arms_of_Poland
  18. To win any election you need money though. Most of the monarchies in the world have been either overthrown or serve as ceremonial puppets anyway. Most political parties have learned how to dominate the system, USA has seen zero options beyond Dems and GOP for what, 160 years? Senate and Congress don't have even ONE member from outside of these two parties since how long? Politicians have truly learned how to use democracy into their own favor hence we have all these political families and all that nonsense. There is no real choice in most democracies anyway. You vote for the same two parties over and over again. The communists regimes have had one ruling party, the oh-so ideal democracy has two in most cases. That is some upgrade indeed Call me again if Libertarian Party votes just one member of the Congress! I suspect that won't happen in the next 50 years and beyond
  19. Cambridge published some data showing how democracy is losing fans all over the world. Unsurprisingly democracy is most popular in the wealthiest countries in the world like Norway, Switzerland, Denmark & Netherlands (all in Top 11 of GDP per capita). https://www.bbc.com/news/education-51281722
  20. Daytona 500 in 2019 had the fewest TV viewers since 1979 when the race was first broadcasted live start-to-finish. The final number was 9.17 million. Indianapolis 500 had 6.7 million TV viewers in first year on NBC which is actually 11% increase from 2018 when it was last aired on ABC. In fact it was the most-watched sporting event on NBC since the NFL playoff game. IndyCar is going up again and it will soon surpass NASCAR to where it was before the open-wheel split. Moreover the retirements of Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon further sinks NASCAR in viewership numbers, Kyle Busch and Joey Logano are not Dale Jr and Gordon to cover for the losses. 2019 Italian F1 Grand Prix had 112 million viewers, the highest of any F1 race since 2016. Four F1 races in total exceeded 100m viewers worldwide and 14 had over 90m. The average was 91.5 million which is ten times more than Daytona 500.
  21. Jan Gunka has some impressive ski speed amomg his peers. Poland should be a major relay favorite 12 months from now. Among the medallists there were 8 guys born in 2001 and one in 2002. The Polish team was 2x 2002 and 1x 2003.
  22. Liu's mother is Hungarian There's nothing phoney about that.
  23. Oeberg wins. Hojnisz 4th!
  24. Oeberg vs Vittozzi for the win. Hojnisz with a Top 5 chance!
  25. Yule wins... again. Braathen ties Kristoffersen for 4th. Still a great day for him.
