I think it’s pretty obvious that the rules for when and how trans athletes should be able to compete are still a work in progress, but presumably issues will be addressed as they come up. Hubbard is competing in a really weak event, women’s weightlifting is a pretty niche sport and there are just not that many cis woman who are big enough for her weight class, so I’m not sure we can draw a ton of generalizable conclusions from her example.

Does New Zealand have a lifelong pension for its Olympic medalists, like other countries? If so, this seems like a genius way to be set for life at 43.

We are one for example. Every medalist gets a fixed bonus, when winning the medal and then a lifetime monthly pension. Their coaches also get monthly Olympic pensions, but after retirement age i think. There are bound to be others, who also reward their medalists, but i'm getting tired to look it up.

It is if it is irrational, yes. Why should you have the right to dictate how people live their lives if they are not doing any harm to you?

I speak as a woman because this is not correct. If world can accept transgender people than they should accept themselves as well, that they are transgender and have advantage.

If they have a certain big advantage against other competitors, they are doing harm though, don't they? I do not watch weightlifting a lot anymore since you do not know who will be doped and at least 25% of all medal winners will be. So I feel that I am deceived. It is very similar in this case, they are not biologically women, they can have much more testosterone than other athletes. So, they would have huge advantage against others. If we allow this I do not see why we do not allow men who wants to compete in women competitions? What is different between a man who identifies as a woman and a transgender in this sense?
