Only 3 of 17 NOCs qualified for the Olympics are from Europe. I wonder if this is a historic low share of European participating NOCs in any sport?

Baseball was 1/8 in 2008, and even then the European qualifier had many players from the Americas.

Just like many of the French surfers come from Oceania, not Europe.

Jeremy Flores comes from the Reunion , and Michel Bourez comes from Tahiti  (of course they are French islands in the Pacific and Indian oceans)

Ya, not saying they aren’t French, just saying they aren’t geographically from Europe.

The fact that Thaiti and Reunion are French doesn’t mean they are in Europe (just like Hawaii isn’t in the Americas despite being in the USA).
