Track Cycling Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Ok, so it’s not like the Pan Am’s where nations can enter athletes in any races they want so long as they have a quota. An athlete must be qualified in track cycling and road cycling to be eligible for an additional (unqualified) event?

No, an athlete can not compete in an event unless the nation has already qualified to it. A road race athlete can not compete in the omnium unless the nation has already qualified in it.

In cycling there are two types of quotas, athlete quotas and event quotas. A nation must have both in order to compete.

I can sort of understand why nations from weak continents deny their quotas, but for Europe it's a bit ridiculous. I doubt the French cycling team is so weak that they don't have anyone else that can use the quota and if not they'll drop to below the top 8 and won't qualify regardless as the European and World Championships still remain.

Can a country qualify a spot through individual sprint and Keirin (ie 2 quotas)?

I believe so, but the qualification document is completely unclear about that.

Simulation olympic rankings pursuit ? thanks !!

France overtake Belgium in women pursuit but  this result didn' t change anything in substance, because being 130 behind or 130 points ahead is the same situation, who will finish ahead between France and Belgium in Berlin will go to Tokyo(and it should be France).

For men team pursuit no chance for France  even with today result.

    • The Italian team has already achieved a better result than the Chinese team in 2022 at home. The Italian team has made enormous progress since 2023, when we were still losing to Korea and Poland. Of course, this is mainly due to naturalizations, but China did the same. It's one of the few sports that have made significant progress before these Olympics and this is how it should be in most disciplines at home games.
    • change with given the WBC rosters    ps you forgot (I'd put them at no.5, however)
