FINA should have 8 teams for swimming relay and give 12 places for Diving.  So many good divers must stay home. Many poor swimmers are trying to qualify in swimming relay final, even all we know that Australia, USA, Great Britain etc. will have a gold.

So China winning gold in diving is going to come as a bit of a shock to you then. ?

Very funny. No, but it is more exciting than 16 relays, where for 8 is problem for qualify to final. Because  5-6 countries are quite safe. 8 relays for event is good number.  This places should be added to diving. Diving needs diversity.

no way...rather, they should scratch synchro diving from the olympic schedule (4 gifted gold medals to China, with no real competition, unless they make some improbable mistake)...:pope:

Goodbye to basketball and table tennis as well where we know the US and China are going to be gifted the gold medals. ?

You only need about 16 additional athlete quotas (four for each event) to create a 12 nation synchronized diving event without suffocating the individual event. Most nations that would rank 9-12 would already qualify at least one athlete in the individual event.

Of course, synchronized diving along with some of the larger rowing events have some of the lowest participation rates (partly due to the low number of Olympic quotas) at the Olympics so it is more likely for those events to be cut all together.

    • After that WCh our federation (FAV) was banned because of some dispute with corrupt president Acosta, went bankrupt and we had to found a new one (FEVA).    Safe to say we will never host again.    Also there's just not much commercial interest in this sport as it used to be. Proof of that is our league... it used to have some global stars, now it's a semi-professional joke.

    • The Italian team's form is currently disastrous, especially after their excellent performance at the World Championships in March in Hamar. The miss of qualifications for the women's team is just one of bad news. The second is that Lollibrigida is completely out of form and Ghiotto has her worst results in 4 years at the World Cup. The Italian women's distance team should have been built around Lollibrigida 4 years ago, but with her gone, there's practically no one competing. Peveri and Marletti were there a few years ago, and where are they now? Another huge missed opportunity with the Olympics at home. But of course we are not as lucky as the Czech Republic to have another phenomenon after Sablikova, even though there is not even 1 professional track in the entire country!!! If someone like that appeared among us... Before Paris 2024, Marchand appeared in France in swimming and won several gold medals. No one else appeared in our country and 90% of our medal hopefuls are well over 30 years and already won medals in 2022 and 2018. This is the biggest problem for us.
