Road Cycling Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Recommended Posts

Luxembourg is actually better than several nations around them, but their main guys are too focused on the big races instead of the races where lesser nations easily score points with cyclists who are a few levels behind Jungels, Drucker and Gastauer.

Iran qualified in men's time trial instead of Luxembourg. Rest is okay, I think.

It's interesting to check how many individuals have qualified for women's road race over the years...

2008 - 6 cyclists

2012 - 10 cyclists

2016 - 12 cyclists

2020 - 17 (!) cyclists

So... This Individual Top 100 rule is not aging well... At all. :d So much so that in 2020 only 6 nations will have more than 2 cyclists.

67 is just not enough for an Olympic road race, should be 100 athletes minimum. Would be ideal if both road races had 150 starters or something along those lines.

The Paraguay's Federation did not know about the quota earned by its athlete Agua Marina. She was informed by a friend
