Öberg-sisters will compete together in the single mixed relay in the Swedish championship. Will be interesting to see against the real mixed teams:d

Öberg sisters finished 5th in single mixed at Swedish champs. Only 5 seconds from silver. Apparantly Two girls in a team was accepted:d

Peppe Femling won gold in his very last race, in team with girlfriend Anna Magnusson.

More biathlon this weekend!  It's the Norwegian Nationals and it's on free-to-air!

NB this shows as blocked under some links, but the Norwegian system has a built-in bypass, so should be OK from this page.

Stina Nilsson changes sport again, back to cross country but this time Ski classics. Her biathlon career ends with one individual podium and one in relay.

She gave it a legitimate attempt, but could not make it work.  I give her lots of props for the attempt.  It had to be frustrating to go from the top of the world to one who is almost irrelevant.  Still a better biathlete than I could ever be :).  Good luck Stina, thanks for showing the world how difficult biathlon is.

Now I'd like to see William Poromaa try and fail miserably*, after his comments about biathletes basically being failed cross-country skiers.

*unlike Nilsson, who like you said gave it a real attempt and definitely did not 'fail'. Most World Cup athletes never get a podium at all in their career, so she's done a fine job. Nice to see her in the races for the real tough ones from now on :d

Slovak biathlon is still not buried entirely.

Paja decided to return to the sport and will continue until Milano/Cortina and wll train with men´s team (former cross-country skier Martin Bajčičák also became the new coach of the NT)

also Nastya Kuzmiina will compete (at least) the whole next season as well

    • So 5 of Australia's top 6 current WTA players were not born in Australia. Only Gadecki was.   At least Birrell lived most of her life there and Joint has an Australian parent. Even Saville at least eventually married an Aussie even though when she first got citizenship it was a total joke.   Tomljanovic and Kasatkina playing for Australia is so weird. Also it's quite pathetic a country like Australia, with so many resources for tennis, has to keep naturalizing players because they can't produce their own talents...

    • It comes down to what is taught in Poland about the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Union of Lublin isn't shown as unfavorable for Lithuania as it really was. A lot of the southern territories of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was "given" to Poland but it was actually stolen by Poles, the Polish language overpowered the Lithuanian one among the elites, the common coin was Polish-based. At one point, the PLC starts to get treated like one big country, with Vilnus as one of the major cities of Poland. The Vilnius University shown as an important Polish university, Mickiewicz calling Lithuania his home while writing in Polish, etc. The whole stuff after the World War One is barely touched in the high school when barely anyone cares about history anyway, I guess most people don't even know it. With this lack of the knowledge, Vilnus is one of the lost Polish cities, just like Lviv. The current animosities are down to the early 2010s and Grybauskaitė being the president of Lithuania - when there was the increase of the Lithuanian subjects taught in the Polish schools, troubles with Polish surnames, places' and streets' names. The Polish hooligans were also quick to pick it up. To be honest, Lithuania isn't looked down at but people don't understand why Lithuania has the right not to like Poland.
