Goodbye super sprint, may you not be ever missed ever again.

Too bad that they axed it entirely. I'm happy not to see it in the World Cup, but it was an excellent event for the IBU Cup or Junior Cup. Although the mass start 60 is better there, that's definitely the main event I would not want in the World Cup but definitely in the IBU and Junior Cups.

Polish teams are training in snow tunnel in Oberhof and well, Monika Hojnisz's "don't call it a retirement competition pause" has been extended to TBA :coffee:

Julia Simon has been arrested by the French police in an ongoing investigation against her for Credit Card fraud. Last January her teammate Justine Braisaz-Buchet has pressed charges against Simon for using her Credit Cards to buy different stuff. :yikes:

The saga continues :d

Although apparently she's not actually 'arrested', but brought in for questioning, with arrested coming from a mistranslation? At least that's what the comment here is saying :p

Edit: oh wow, Reddit comments/posts are automatically embedded, sweet :hyper:

In English it’s probably “questioned under caution”.  Basically, an official notification that you are being investigated and it’s time to seriously rethink the “abducted by aliens and replaced by a body double” defence strategy.

Yeah, she hasn't been arrested at all, the police (or in this case "gendarmerie") only got her testimony in the presence of her lawyer ;)

But don't worry it's French justice, we'll have the results of this case in 2 years

Another early biathlon pioneer has died.  Victor Mamatov, a double Olympic champion (1968, 1972) in the 4×7.5 km relay and a quadruple world champion (1967, 1969, 1970, 1971) passed away this week.  He also had a long tenure as the VP of the IBU from 1993-2002.  Tough week for older biathletes in Russia.

There is a super cool 6 part documentary about the Swedish Biathlon 2022-2023 season.  There is an English translation in subtitles.  I just finished it, it was really well done and insightful.  Great way to prepare for the season.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
