When I look at the election results, I just wonder if this is a dream? I immediately say when it comes to my private attitude towards which party closer to me I will say that he adheres to the principle. That for many years I have been an apolitical man and despite the urging of many people, I did not go either to the left, to the right or in the middle. I am a man of Sport and I stick to it

The older generations are voting further and further right, while the younger generations are voting further and further left. Very interesting. US election will have similar trend. I’ll have to look back and forward at other elections to further study this trend. I think we may be on the verge of moving from far-right to far-left very quick.

This is not a new phenomenon. Over the ages, it has been trend. Younger generations are always left leaning and as they age they tend to lean toward right. In fact, there are many variations of "If You Are Not a Liberal at 25, You Have No Heart. If You Are Not a Conservative at 35, You Have No Brain" type to capture this shift.

Right, I’m aware this. However, this new version of that trend is different in my opinion.

... And a pretty surprising plot twist: While PIS retains control of the Sejm, it loses majority in the "upper chamber" of our parliament, the Senat. The opposition parties KE+KP+LEWICA managed to unite before the election, and have most likely taken control of the Senat, but what's surprising is that they won with just 1 seat :yikes:There are 100 places in the Senat, and the Grand Coalition takes 51 while PIS takes 49 of them

The Senat is not as important as Sejm, but it can for example veto bills and send them back to the Sejm, so it is really big news, especially since Law and Justice controlled both chambers since 2015.

A great argument for Kurdish independence

I am fully for an independent Kurdish state. They should be allowed to keep the land the defender and protected from ISIS. Though they want Iranian and Turkish land too, they need to settle for what they have. Honestly, this is mostly the fault of :GBR and :USA

That was an interesting documentary but very one-sided. I know a lot of injustice happened for Kurdish people, in Iraq, in Turkey in Iran and Syria.

We always hear the story of they defeated ISIS (which is a myth) but it wasn't like they helped anybody. actually they crawled back to their own region when ISIS was taking over half of Iraq and Syria. their reaction was "we don't care, they are not our enemy" they only came to fight ISIS because they had to. because ISIS was coming for them. and they should stop counting on USA (or any other country) to do something for them. where was USA when Saddam dropped chemical bombs on them and killed thousands of innocent souls ? and from where Saddam got those bombs ? of course they gave Saddam those bombs to use it against Iran (which he did) but he also killed lots of Kurdish people in process.

this Turkey/Kurds conflict created lots of discussions here in Iran as well. we have lots of Kurds and Azeris living here , obviously they take side in this conflict. personally I don't know what to say because while Turkey's attack hurt the innocent civilians (which is terrible and they should stop it immediately) but they also have the right to defend themselves against the terrorists, how come USA can fly oceans and invade 2 countries for that and Turkey can't invade 30 km next to its borders ?

based on my own experiences with Iranian Kurds most of them consider themselves Iranian first, but an independent Kurdistan will create chaos even in Iran, some of those lands you see in that map aren't only for Kurds. there are other ethnics living there as well. nowadays people move inside the country and marry someone from another ethnic group. you can't draw a line and say people in the left are 100% Kurds and people on the right are 100% not Kurds.

btw things are messy in this region. and I think there is no solution for some of these conflicts. I think the only one benefits from this is Bashar Asad, Kurds have no other option to go back to him. (probably that's what Turkey wants too)

Well at least the Kurds were willingly to fight ISIS unlike Assad and Iraq (at least until it became easy for them too).

Saddam absolutely got those bombs from the US because we love to give crash courses in how not to run foreign policy. I honestly don’t know a worse country when. it comes to the US besides DPRK. I do apologize for the US’s role in Saddam’s reign by the way, if that means anything to you or others.

The Kurds aren’t terrorists, that’s why Turkey doesn’t have the right to invade. There hasn’t been mass skirmishes along the Turkish border. As far as I know the situation was peaceful before tiny-dick Erogodan and his terrorists came along. At the same time I won’t justify the US’s actions, expect when it comes to our work in Afghanistan and our role in defeating ISIS. No, Turkey can’t invade. No one’s supposed to invade. We can’t just decide when hate Canadians and go for an ethnic genocide. There’s a big difference between defense and offense. Turkey only needs 5km at most, and even that’s generous.

In the situation an independent Kurdistan becomes a thing (it probably won’t), I believe the following should happen. The Kurds keep the territory they took and defended from ISIS. Kurds living in Iran and Turkey are allowed to move to Kurdistan if they want too. Those who choose not to move will be denounced by Kurdistan if they cause trouble. The UN and OSCE would observe the transition period.

There’s absolutely no solutions for the shitshow that is the Middle East and surrounding areas. I have mad respect for those of y’all that have cooler heads, a desire for peace, and continue to try to live there. Yes, Assad hasn’t been this strong since 2011.

    • The same thing happened after Turin 2006. That hall later was never used for skating competitions again, only the Indoor ECH in athletics was organized there once in 2009 and that was it. After that it was only used for commercial fairs etc. It will be the same with Milan. Regarding the indoor arena in Collalbo, it was a great idea to make it an Italian center of skating sports for many years: good location, high altitude, tourist town. Well, but according to the organizers, it`s not worth doing it, but why? Why is`t not worth doing anything here but Germany has a similar track in Inzell and it is possible there? They should hire a good manager who will develop a plan for them to make it worth doing. The same is with the bobsleigh track in Cortina. It was also not worth renovating it and if Salvini's and other big politics and determination had n`t come into it, the competition would probably have been in Austria or St. Moritz.
    • For Ghiotto to win 2 golds at the Olympics, he would have to be the second van der Poel or Sablikova in they pick of form. You have to be a genius to beat this whole coalition of Norwegians, Dutchmen etc. However, I don't see that much talent in him. I'd like to be wrong, but I'm afraid that he'll end up with some silver-bronze in the 10 km and that's it. If he starts losing to Eitrem now, who is 22 years old, it won't bode well for the future, and there's also Roest + maybe another Dutchman will jump out. Generally, our team is poorly prepared for this season and it's not like Ghiotto is on individual training on the moon and has just come down to earth and will now win everything while the rest of the team are in terrible form. Of course, the lack of form of Bosa or Trentini means e.g. 20th place, not 10th, but for Ghiotto it could mean 4/5 place, instead of 1st. It's the same with the team. For today, the only positive performance for us is Lollobrigida's 2nd place in the b category of the women's 1500 meters and Fontana's solid performance in the same event. The rest is terrible.
    • Costantini & Mosaner will back to play together for the frist time since Beijing 2022 Our NOC and Federation do an amazing work.

    • As far as I am concerned, there are two very simple problems: infrastructure and the lack of cooperation between sports federations. Let me explain. The MiCo2026 Olympics will provide virtually no legacy in ice sports, there is still a lack of an indoor hall, there is no federal centre that has been promised for so many years. It could have been an opportunity to make a nice roof in Baselga di Pinè, but instead they preferred to make temporary facilities in Rho.   The second problem is the total lack of cooperation between roller skating and speed skating, we have a huge pool and we are not exploiting it. Fortunately we are doing a few small collegiate events, the technical collaboration with the Netherlands absolutely must be exploited.   I am not so negative however about the current situation, Ghiotto practically on the 10k seems to be off the scale (watch out for the Czech and Norwegian) and he can medal in the 5k and drag the pursuit team. In the mass start you have more cards in both the men's and women's, let's see what Fontana does. And a Fontana-Peveri-Lollobrigida pursuit team can also play for a third place
    • Canada Team Size Prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2026 Milano Cortina   Ski Sports   Alpine Skiing  (13) - That's been the team size the last couple of Olympics so it's a safe bet again. Cross Country Skiing  (10) - Not too familiar with the qualification system. Probably around 6 men and 4 women. Ski Jumping  (5) - Loutitt, Strate and Maurer for sure on the women's side. Possibly a 4th will qualify. On the men's side, if Bowd-Clowes returns, then he should also qualify. Nordic Combined  (0) - Been a nonexistent sport for a while. No athletes competing in the World Cup or Continental Cup. Freestyle Skiing  (32) - Should qualify a team in mixed aerials which means a maximum team size of 32 athletes. Which athletes in which disciplines to be determined. Snowboarding  (24) - Full teams in slopestyle and big air. Then somewhere between 1-4 athletes in the other disciplines. Biathlon  (6) - Based on the Nations Cup last year, the men finished outside the top 20 and wouldn't qualify a relay team (and that's without Russia and Belarus). With Christian Gow's retirement, that makes things even more difficult. Women's relay should still qualify though. Ski Mountaineering  (1) - Gonna be optimistic here and say that one athlete will qualify either through the World Rankings or continental quota.     Skating Sports   Speed Skating  (16) - 7 to 8 men, 8 to 9 women. For now, I'll say 8 of each gender. Short Track Speed Skating  (10) - Full team size. With the current skill level of the team, anything else would be a tragedy. Figure Skating  (12) - Most likely 1 man (I hope) and 1 woman, then 2-3 pairs and 2-3 ice dance couples. For now, let's say 2 in pairs and 3 in ice dance.     Sleigh Sports   Luge  (7) - 2 women + 1 entry in each of the other disciplines Skeleton  (4) - 1 or 2 men + 2 or 3 women Bobsleigh  (14) - 2 men's crews (in both events) and 3 women's crews (in both events)     Team Sports   Curling  (12) - Full team or else you might as well burn the federation to the ground. Ice Hockey  (48) - Both men's and women's teams already qualified       Total Optimistic Prediction  -  (229) Total Pessimistic Prediction  - (184)   Total Realistic Prediction  -  (214)
    • Besides, I think Eitrem will be better than Ghiotto. You can see it after 1500 meters. He is younger. The whole Norwegian team is also in great shape. You just have to look at the team Norway has, how many new and young skaters there are and in our group A there is one Trentini, who takes last place. In every winter sport we invest too little money to be counted.   If Eitrem has the same form over long distances as he does over 1500 metres, he will dominate this season, not Ghiotto or Roest.
    • Looking at last season's 1st World Cup, it's worse for now and it should be the other way around. Bosa out of shape, Trentini weak. Both will drop to a lower group. It's similar to skeleton, i.e. regression instead of progress. I hope this doesn't mean Ghiotto is also in weaker form, because it could end up with 0 podiums this weekend.
    • In general, our picture for a little over 1 year until the home games looks like this:     - the women's sector is still based on one Lollo, who is 3 years older than 2022, - the women's and men's sprint sector is based on one Bosa and possibly the young Pergher (0% possobility for medal in 2026), - Ghiotto has made a lot of progress and that is a big plus. He could result to give our even 3 medals, including 1/2 gold. Our team's performance also depends to a large extent on Ghiotto's form, - the rest of the men's team is basically unchanged. There is Giovannoni in the mass start, there is Malfatti in the longer distances, but they are not competitors on the podium of a major event.   I will repeat myself: if Ghiotto continues to make such progress, we will probably win 3 medals, 2 of which gold and it will be a success. If something doesn`t work out, an injury, illness, etc. (we know from Vitozzi that this can happen to anyone), then it could be very bad. By the way, this also applies to other sports: the above-mentioned Vitozzi in biathlon, Goggia in downhill, Brignone in giant slalom, etc.
