Mark Carney is the next PM of Canada. Never been elected to office, and is now the leader of the country. Hopefully an election is called soon

Is there a risk that Trump, Musk, etc. will want to actively engage in the campaign in Canada and what effect might that have?

They've already become a factor. If it wasn't for them, the Liberals would have been destroyed in the coming election, now they have a chance at winning.

For the upcoming election, their best strategy is to keep quiet, especially in regards to annexation and tariffs or else their preferred party, the Conservatives will lose.

Also while Carney never held office, we was the former governor for the bank of Canada and in the UK.

And who are now the conservatives in Canada? A more moderate party, like the Rep before Trump, or more like the current MAGA?

In my opinion, the greatest allies of the USA in Europe now see what others have seen before: the USA thinks only of itself and nothing more. No values there, no democracy, free world, etc. I don`t recall any ally of the USA in the 21st century doing well in business with them (It is difficult to call the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. successful: for example Poland was forced to participate in them and send its soldiers there). Only before, US politicians were at least nice and patted them on the back and now the masks have fallen: Trump, Musk and others are simply rude, arrogant and treat others like garbage. Now, if I were the Prime Minister or Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, I would go on a diplomatic trip to Beijing as soon as possible...

I always think that in Canada is a more normal political class than in the USA.

Are Musk or and Trump Russian agents? I thought it will be bad but not as that. To be true USA seems now as the biggest danger to the world. How Americans could have chosen this? They are selling us to Russia and expect gratitude some 40 times a day. Putin is laughing. It will end with tragedy probably. Ok, we will go with Turkey and everybody will be happy here.

    • Shades of 1998 with  and  in the same group but this time it's really a terrible draw for the Thistles. I recall Brazil and Scotland played in the same group in 1974 and 1990 too so that's quite a high probabiliy rate.

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
