[OFF TOPIC] Politics Thread

So… second coup attempt this week in South Korea, apparently.

President Yoon is basically guaranteed to be impeached and removed from office unless the military intervenes.

To be fair, that's kind of what you get when you try to pull what he tried to pull

Oh ya. Forget impeachment and removal, Yoon should be in jail.

Looks like the rebel offensive in Syria has within two weeks resulted in Assad being ousted from power and gone, that escalated quickly. Does kind of look like the new thing is one of those extremist sharia "disagree with our strict morals and it's the death penalty for you" kind of groups, so...hopefully that's not the reality, but I guess we'll see.

My understanding is that some of the rebels are Kurds, so people in their areas will be better off.  Unfortunately the others are mostly from the crazed head-chopping tendency, so nothing good can be expected.

So bad being replaced by bad, very roughly speaking. Yeah, that doesn't sound great.

One of the strongest proves that contemporary politicans all over the world are just plain braindead is their welcoming of this ousting.

Asad wasnt the nicecest politican but he is replaced by hardcore islamists.

I am sad that in just few months another wave of Syrians will overflow Europe.

Afraid so.  When you have an revolution made up of an alliance of psychos & westernised liberals, the psychos will always win.

Assad hasn`t had support in his country for many years - he was saved by Russia 10 years ago. The prolonged war in Ukraine meant that Putin had to withdraw his troops from Syria and abandon his former ally. I think that Assad can only hold a grudge against Putin. By the way the regime in Syria turned out to be just as weak as the Afghan government supported by the US in Kabul. Both regimes fell very quickly without the help of foreign powers. So what can be written? Should I feel sorry for the dictator Assad because he was so weak that he fell without Putin's help? I don't care. In the case of refugees, they will probably have to go through Turkey, so Erdogan can block them - probably for the right money from the EU.
