I want to start a petition to reallocate all the California conservatives to North Korea so they can see what real tyranny looks like. If being asked not to meet in groups, or go to beach or movies just for a few months to protect the public is their version of tyranny, then they’re going to be in for a real shell shock in North Korea.

Lol at people thinking cnn is not fake news.

Enlighten us, which media outlets are reliable?

Spoiler

And the standard "you have to find out on your own" is not an answer, that's only done by people who can't actually answer it but try to hide that.

Nowadays basically no media are 100% objective and your favored media could precisely feed what you want based on your taste. Accessing different major media in different countries is what I can do to try to balance different views. CNN is fake news media is more like a joke to imitate Trump but CNN is truly the first mainstream media to report the rumor and tigger lots of small media to make up stories for clicks. I don't like this "according to our reliable source" reporting style and I feel like jeering it because of this misinformation. But I would not say everything it report is fake and worthless reading, on the contrary, it's a major tool to know and understand American liberals views.

Let's see, so rt is fake news, cnn is fake news but worse, fox is the worst, al jazeera is fake news, cgtn and bbc too (cant trust most of government owned). :) Evey news outlet out there spews propaganda to brainwash people to think that a certain group of people, government or country is evil. Of course the one with the most developed and widespread network of media outlets is most likely the worst offender when it comes to spreading fake news.

Sure, but some media outlets are known to simply report more lies than others. Not lies as in 'not my opinion', but lies as in 'things that are simply, factually speaking not true'. This is generally a pretty good one to get an idea of where media stand:

And a more visual yet also very useful version:

Bigger version here.

The more in the bottom half something is and the more to the right or left, the better it is to stay away from it. Obviously bullshit sites like Infowars are somewhere in a bottom corner :d

I’m sorry but that’s just simply not true. Journalists job is not to brainwash people. Now many journalists might have an objective to their story (I.e I run a story about how there haven’t been enough Covid tests in Nevada (that is completely factually correct), with the hope that Nevada then starts testing more people).

I will absolutely agree that CNN’s and Fox’s editorial standards are low, but Al Jazeera and BBC have a high rate of factual accuracy.

You can believe what you want, but I always defend journalists who themselves to the proper standards and higher. I know of many reporters who would die inside if they purposely had to run, or accidentally ran, a “fake news” story. I would also like to point out that “skewed news” and “fake news” are two different things. WaPo and WSJ both have a clearish skew, but they still engage in completely factual reporting. A good reader should get their information from multiple perspectives in order to truly info themselves on an issue.

Which is absolutely what a good reader must do. I will agree that CNN is turning more into a tabloid (like The Sun, or The Guardian). However, their reporting on events like terrorist attacks, or other live/breaking events is generally some of the best reporting you’ll get from the ground (think CNN Turkey during the Coup attempt). It’s the one reason I haven’t completely just binned CNN. Also, most liberals hate CNN too. If you want liberal viewpoints, head over to MSNBC. My parents watch that crap for hours.

I generally get my news from WaPo, LA Times, NY Times, Axios, Quartz, Vice, The Verge, Reuters, and WSJ. So I do tend to like news that favors my bias (like everyone mostly), but I do also read stories from the “other side.”

I will daily get news from the most pro-Chinese government media to the most anti-Chinese government media, so I can get totally different news and views everyday. Here is the pro-Chinese government index of my daily accessing media

10- Chinese state-owned media ( mostly positive news only and lots of criticism on USA )

7  - Caixin ( private Chinese media with some mild criticism on government and focusing on minority victims )

5  - BBC/BBC Chinese ( generally negative news based on fact with some reasonable criticism )

4  - CNN/NY Times ( negative news only with several fake news, the criticism is systematically and ideologically biased )

3  - Yahoo Taiwan ( fake news family, just like reading jokes and having fun )

0  - Voice of America Chinese ( full of ideological bias and making me feel I am living in the hell awaiting the rescue of USA )

I absolutely refuse to consider NY Times fake news. They might have a slight bias people don’t like personally, but they are very much legitimate news. They score under fact reporting and reputable on all media charts.

    • Canada Team Size Prediction for Winter Olympic Games 2026 Milano Cortina   Ski Sports   Alpine Skiing  (13) - That's been the team size the last couple of Olympics so it's a safe bet again. Cross Country Skiing  (10) - Not too familiar with the qualification system. Probably around 6 men and 4 women. Ski Jumping  (5) - Loutitt, Strate and Maurer for sure on the women's side. Possibly a 4th will qualify. On the men's side, if Bowd-Clowes returns, then he should also qualify. Nordic Combined  (0) - Been a nonexistent sport for a while. No athletes competing in the World Cup or Continental Cup. Freestyle Skiing  (32) - Should qualify a team in mixed aerials which means a maximum team size of 32 athletes. Which athletes in which disciplines to be determined. Snowboarding  (24) - Full teams in slopestyle and big air. Then somewhere between 1-4 athletes in the other disciplines. Biathlon  (6) - Based on the Nations Cup last year, the men finished outside the top 20 and wouldn't qualify a relay team (and that's without Russia and Belarus). With Christian Gow's retirement, that makes things even more difficult. Women's relay should still qualify though. Ski Mountaineering  (1) - Gonna be optimistic here and say that one athlete will qualify either through the World Rankings or continental quota.     Skating Sports   Speed Skating  (16) - 7 to 8 men, 8 to 9 women Short Track Speed Skating  (10) - Full team size Figure Skating  (12) - Most likely 1 man (I hope) and 1 woman, then 2-3 pairs and 2-3 ice dance couples.     Sleigh Sports   Luge  (7) - 2 women + 1 entry in each of the other disciplines Skeleton  (4) - 1 or 2 men + 2 or 3 women Bobsleigh  (14) - 2 men's crews (in both events) and 3 women's crews (in both events)     Team Sports   Curling  (12) - Full team or else you might as well burn the federation to the ground. Ice Hockey  (48) - Both men's and women's teams already qualified       Total Optimistic Prediction  -  (229) Total Pessimistic Prediction  - (184)   Total Realistic Prediction  -  (214)
    • Besides, I think Eitrem will be better than Ghiotto. You can see it after 1500 meters. He is younger. The whole Norwegian team is also in great shape. You just have to look at the team Norway has, how many new and young skaters there are and in our group A there is one Trentini, who takes last place. In every winter sport we invest too little money to be counted.   If Eitrem has the same form over long distances as he does over 1500 metres, he will dominate this season, not Ghiotto or Roest.
    • Looking at last season's 1st World Cup, it's worse for now and it should be the other way around. Bosa out of shape, Trentini weak. Both will drop to a lower group. It's similar to skeleton, i.e. regression instead of progress. I hope this doesn't mean Ghiotto is also in weaker form, because it could end up with 0 podiums this weekend.
    • In general, our picture for a little over 1 year until the home games looks like this:     - the women's sector is still based on one Lollo, who is 3 years older than 2022, - the women's and men's sprint sector is based on one Bosa and possibly the young Pergher (0% possobility for medal in 2026), - Ghiotto has made a lot of progress and that is a big plus. He could result to give our even 3 medals, including 1/2 gold. Our team's performance also depends to a large extent on Ghiotto's form, - the rest of the men's team is basically unchanged. There is Giovannoni in the mass start, there is Malfatti in the longer distances, but they are not competitors on the podium of a major event.   I will repeat myself: if Ghiotto continues to make such progress, we will probably win 3 medals, 2 of which gold and it will be a success. If something doesn`t work out, an injury, illness, etc. (we know from Vitozzi that this can happen to anyone), then it could be very bad. By the way, this also applies to other sports: the above-mentioned Vitozzi in biathlon, Goggia in downhill, Brignone in giant slalom, etc.
    • With the World Cup season in most of the winter sports about to begin and qualification in some sports already underway, I think it's about time for this thread.    Template    ... • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.
    • Yup, actually they have just some juniors pairs in the dance event
