Salman Hashimikov, FS wrestler from Russia has died.

He won 4 world titles in a row - 1979, 1981, 1982 and 1983.

Funny thing, he switched to pro wrestling in Japan, probably 1st Russian wrestler to do so.

:SCO Distance Runner Lachie Stewart, famous for winning the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games Edinburgh 1970.....and I was there to see it!    20th July 1970, an unforgettable day for everyone there because he was not by a long way the favourite.

Awful day in general, can't remember the last time we had three actives athletes being mentioned in the same day here....because 20-year old motorcycle racer Borja Gomez, leader in the European Stock Championship (part of the JuniorGP paddock), has died today after a crash during free practice for this week's races in Magny-Cours :(

Completely missed it, but one of the most influential figures in Dutch ski jumping, mostly known for his bigger roles in FIS though, has passed away last month. Horst Tielmann. That hits a little close to home, I believe my dad might still have his phone number from when he was trying to get some help and information from the Dutch skiing federation for Bruna...

Edit: just found some email conversations with mister Tielmann, we were trying to find some places to join some trainings in Germany, where he was working.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
    • FIFA announced the stadium and time for each match   for  Iran, it will be 2 matches in LA (and not just 1) and 1 in Seattle and luckily we avoided playing in Canada. absolutely nothing against the country, but there are just too many douchebag Iranian groups in Vancouver trying to mix everything with their stupid politics. it's better to stay away from them.   that can happen in US too but less likely. playing in LA is more like playing at home, at least I hope so. 2022 Qatar was a disaster from our point of view, hopefully this one remains only about football.
