Oh, they're also banned from the warmup areas and such. So basically they're completely screwed over (this also goes for athletes who never tested positive at all), any medal would be a miracle from now on. That sucks, the team was looking stronger than it has done in a very, very, very long time..

You just have to make sure it also involves medal ceremonies.  Success is the best revenge.  :bones:

The Dutch rowers are even being harrassed by other nations now, starting with Australia. Olivia van Rooijen, member of the quadruple sculls, was going to grab some....oars (those things one rows with) from the 'warehouse', next to the boats, a rather normal thing to do when one needs to row. An Australian coach saw that and started frantically yelling "OUT! OUT!" at her. Ugh.

Why does Rowing continue with the b-final system. It feels such a waste of time.

They use it quite well for Worlds to qualify for Olympics. Just tradition I guess. Doesn't make sense in an Olympic context

I actually like sports that rank all participants at the Olympics like rowing. I prefer being able to write stuff like “finished 7th at the Olympics,” rather than “eliminated in the semifinals at the Olympics.” To me, it just seems worth while to rank athletes when/where possible. If athletes are going to devote years of their lives to be able to participate, the least IFs/IOC could do is give them a proper rank to be proud of. Plus, a final ranking of:

1. Team A

2. Team B

3. Team C

4. Team D

5. Team E

6. Team F…etc

feels more official or better than:

1. Team A

2. Team B

3. Team C

4. Team D

5-8. Team E

5-8. Team F…etc

Four Polish boats in today's A Finals:

M 2x, W 4-, M 4x, W 4x

There is still no medal for today for Poland in Tokyo sadly

But I hope it will change soon in this rowing session! 1 or 2 medals, I guess... we will see.

Great, this has the potential to be a truly great session for the Dutch team, but Dutch public broadcaster NOS is still showing a sort of documentary about the quadruple sculls training the past 3 years. Because 'we want the story'

Romaniaaaaaaaaaaa

If the lights light up exactly at the correct moment, he was definitely first, since his light went on first. Not sure if those lights are 100% accurate though?
