I had no idea, but apparently there's a huge discussion about those FIFA Awards, where one of the ugliest nominated goals won the Puskas Award for best goal of the year (which didn't even win goal of the month in it's own competition), where the 3rd best player wasn't put in the team of the year and where the world's best female player was not chosen as the world's best female player, simply because the votes are up to the fans and the fan's don't give a crap about who is the best player or which is the best goal, they only care about the name that they know best :p

Anyone else read criticism about a lot of these awards, especially this year, being awarded to the 'wrong' people?

Daniel Alves being in the dream team despite playing only 20 matches per year , De Gea named goal keeper of the dream team despite not making the top 3 , Casper Schmeichel being nominated for top 3 for saving 2 penalties in WC only despite the fact that his team didn't reach even quarters

This doesn't sound so odd, goalkeeper of the year doesn't have to be from a team that got very far or won a lot, it should be a goalkeeper who performed great :p

But yeah, that De Gea thing is another of those weird situations like Salah's goal being chosen just because people want Salah to win instead of people actually liking his goal more than others, or Hegerberg not winning just because more people know Marta and so vote for Marta 'because I know her, so she's good!'.

The host of EURO 2024 wll be announced today at a round 14:45 CET.  Germany and Turkey are the only ones who have submitted a bid to host EURO 2024.

These are some of the new bid requirements:

"For the first time ever, these bid requirements contain specific criteria relating to the respect of human rights. These criteria are based on the United Nations’ “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” and other UN conventions and were developed in close cooperation with Sport and Rights Alliance. Furthermore, criteria regarding compliance and anticorruption measures have also been included as requirements".

With these new requirements Turkey must be the huge favourite to win :p

If Turkey wins this, UEFA presents itself as corrupt to the core. Oh wait.

If Turkey wins, I wonder what FIFA must think about UEFA?

What Casper has done so far this season ? I can't see anything he's done so far this season that makes him deserve to be among best 3 goalkeepers of the world , for Salah goal i think it's much more strange that after this extraordinary season he's done and being nominated in both shortlist of UEFA and FIFA best players that he doesn't make it to dream team , puskas award is just a fan vote so it's not like every year the winner is the one with the most perfect goal and btw Salah has other better goals scored this season than this one :d

    • That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
    • That’s not a long distance, it’s barely a 2h flight and there is no difference in timezone. Easily doable for fans as well.
