dcro 10,210 Posted December 12, 2019 #114 Share Posted December 12, 2019 How often do you see announcements like: "X venue will host Y sport. Next step - IOC approval". Even they are unsure about this. #banbestmen Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/749-summer-olympic-games-paris-2024-news/page/12/#findComment-262377 Share on other sites
thiago_simoes 1,423 Posted December 12, 2019 #115 Share Posted December 12, 2019 This is fantastic. I can't wait for the rants of people who were never going to watch this sport anyway, but feel outrageous by such a long distance between the host city and venue, even though they had never planned to travel there anyway. heywoodu, intoronto and NearPup 2 1 Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/749-summer-olympic-games-paris-2024-news/page/12/#findComment-262378 Share on other sites

JoshMartini007 2,554 Posted December 12, 2019 #117 Share Posted December 12, 2019 Yeah, I have no issue with surfing being in Tahiti, especially given its importance to the surfing world, but I've always been of the opinion that the Olympics were heading towards a host nation rather than a host city. France is a bit unique in that its borders can be found around the world. Even they are unsure about this. Or how often do you see the official organizing committee spelling even the IOC abbreviation in their own language? Then again, it's France, one can be surprised they even have an (somewhat broken) English tweet on this . Events go until midnight at the Olympics, that would make it 1pm Tahiti time, the competition would have already started (weather permitting) by then Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/749-summer-olympic-games-paris-2024-news/page/12/#findComment-262389 Share on other sites
