New Events Proposed by Sport Federations for Beijing 2022: (Some are yet to be finally confirmed but are likely to be nominated or at least discussed with an eye on future editions)

Alpine Skiing:

  • Individual Parallel Slalom Good idea
  • Telemark Parallel Sprint Telemark is not alpine skiing, but apart from that, no problem
  • Telemark Team Parallel Sprint Let's stay with one new discipline for now

Biathlon:

  • Single Mixed Relay No thanks, it's a perfect event for exhibition stuff like Biathlon auf Schalke

Bobsleigh/Skeleton:

  • Mixed Team Event FFS, no

Curling:

  • No new event but increasing mixed doubles from 8 teams to 16 teams Excellent! An 8-team Olympic competition is bullshit

Figure Skating:

  • Synchronised Skating What....didn't even know it existed, surely it has a well-established field of participants?

Freestyle Skiing:

  • Big Air I'd prefer the whole big air thing being kicked out, but if the venue is there for snowboarding anyway, why not let the skiers do their thing
  • Mixed Team Aerials  Pick your mixed team aerials and take it to the Politically Correct Games

Luge:

  • Women's Doubles Absolutely not, it is way, way too early. In the future, definitely, but now? Only if you want to destroy women's doubles chances before they even started.
  • Men's Sprint No, and while you're at it, remove it from the World Cups as well
  • Women's Sprint Boooo sprint
  • Men's Doubles Sprint Go away sprints, please
  • Men's Natural Track Wonderful
  • Women's Natural Track Yep

Nordic Combined:

  • Women's Event No! Come on people, stop adding stuff that doesn't even have an established international series of competition (not only no World Cup, barely even a Continental Cup yet) just 'because politically correct'.

Short Track Speed Skating:

  • Team Event What the hell, we have relays. That's teams. There's no need for an event that's not even a thing

Snowboarding:

  • Snowboard Cross Team Event No
  • Parallel Slalom Yep
  • Mixed Team Parallel Event No, PC Games are the place to be for this

Ski Jumping;

  • Mixed Team Event Not even that bad, at least it's better than a women's team competition at the moment, but I'd rather see the women have two individual competitions instead of a team event being added

Why not a skeleton relay just like in luge ? And is women's doubles luge anything more than vaporware ?

Women's doubles luge is not even a thing yet. They were trying out sleds (!) a few months ago and want to add it to the Olympics in less than 4 years? That's even worse than the speed skating mass start.

Of course not, it's the winter olympics !

Spoiler

It's basically a four nations affair (but it would never be accepted as it will recquire a way too large extra number of participants)

I really want to see women's Nordic combined at the Olympics by the way, having a sport where only men or only women compete is quite odd, but for the love of everything, not yet. This season was supposed to be the grand start of women's Nordic combined, with so far a grand total of one Continental Cup weekend (the other one was cancelled), with a breathtaking amount of, hold on to your hats, 12 athletes! The children's competitions (mostly 2003/2004-born athletes) do have a significantly higher number of athletes, so for 2026 it looks quite promising to have a somewhat serious field of women in the Nordic combined. Not for 2022 though, that's too early. FIS, for the love of Nordic combined, take the time to build it up into something serious first.

Luckily we don't have that in figure skating yet... :p

Do you guys believe we will see snowboarding and/or freestyle skiing with more than 10 events each at Beijing or later ? Remember, they introduced Big Air this time, but they dropped parallel slalom in the process.

Maybe, 10 is the upper limit for these sports (and FIS might do not want to have any of these two fellows with more events than alpine skiing anyway)

They dropped slalom because when it was originally added it was a one time deal for Russia.

The only thing that is nice is mixed curling with 16 teams. Welcome :GBR:CZE:EST:LAT:SVK:AUS:ITA:IRL :cheer: (they would have all qualified if WCF had a spine before Pyeongchang 2018).
