Athletics at the Summer Olympic Games 2020

Recommended Posts

Canada's women's 4x400 relay team finished fourth for a second consecutive Games. I thought we'd escape any fourths in athletics this time around but nope!

It's not a shock. She was a hands down gold favorite in Rio and couldn't compete. One missed OG is enough. She didn't have the best season in 2021 but she won OG anyway. I won't be surprised if she retires next year (unlike Chicherova who retired like three times).

Chicherova probably retired every time she thought she was close to failing a doping test. How she has not lost the rest of her medals really annoys me - should be one failed test and everything goes.

I don't know if Dunfee is deemed as controversial back home (like anyone would even care about race walking in Canada?) but Robert Korzeniowski called him one of the most likeable walkers around :p

I think most Canadians have no idea who he is, but the athletics fans in Canada like him. Generally Canadians like athletes who "talk truth to power".
