Mediterranean Games 2018

:MON Monaco has a player in men's tennis semifinals, so here's a good chance to double their all-time medal tally at Tarragona 2018.

Both of their previous two medals were won in Italy:

Naples 1963 - sailing bronze

Pescara 2009 - judo silver

Interesting to see :AND Andorra having three rhythmic gymnasts entered. Perhaps they are chasing tripartite commission place for Tokyo (if they are williing to give it to someone other than :CPV, for once).

Is it any wonder that these events still get some cities bidding for them. The financial loss might be substantial.

well, next time they should be held in Naples...

but I want to underline the conditional auxiliary "should"...because basically there's nothing ready with only 3 years to go and the organizing committee is doing absolutely nothing (not even the refurbishing of the San Paolo Stadium, which is mandatory for SSC Napoli to play at home the next Champions League -since in the past years they received a special permission by UEFA, which is now over and it won't be renovated...now they must do some consistent works to the stadium, but all is stopped at the moment)...

in fact, the local organizers have been replaced by a special commission named by CONI and the local prefectural authorities...

in any case, it's a real mess now and it's gonna be the same also in the next future...

EDIT: there's a big mistake...the Universiade will be in Naples, not the MGs (which will be in Algeria), as explained in the following posts...

p.s. the rest of this post in any case is the sad truth, even if it's referred to the Universiade and not to the MGs...:pope:

What's the best place to quickly follow the athletics results?

watching the live streaming on the Olympic Channel, I guess...

otherwise, here's a written (almost) live update of all the activities going on in Tarragona, Athletics included (but it's only in Italian and focused mainly on the Italian athletes, of course):

https://www.oasport.it/2018/06/live-giochi-del-mediterraneo-2018-in-diretta-29-giugno-italia-serve-lo-scatto-per-vincere-il-medagliere/

p.s. I don't know how quickly they update it, but the official website is also a good source (once it's updated, obviously...and now it's working definitely better than in the early days)...

You're mixing things up...Naples will/should host the next Universiade (because the original host Brasilia withdrew), the next Mediterranean Games will be in Algeria.

Which, as we all know, already has the giant screen set up. So that can't go wrong.
