He wouldn't stand much of a chance of qualifying with the level of the field, to be honest. Dipa, on the other hand, has a big chance on her hands. She only needs to finish the competition outside of the bottom three, if things go the way I believe they will.

since she is the lowest qualifier on the all round  ....would that be easy ?.... she would require to overtake 3 people who qualified above her ............. and how does the qualification work here

Qualification works same way as World Championship. What is different for Dipa is that in WC, she would have concentrated on Vault, now she can focus on a more all round performance. It won't be easy but is surely possible

Dipa didn't perform her routines at the World Championships last year to the best of her ability. If she has a good day with no falls from any of the apparatus, she will make it to Rio.

Is there any Tripartite invitation or similar offer for deserving gymnasts who fail to qualify?

Tripartite invitation is only for nations with very low number of athletes across all sports. India is not eligible for that (thankfully).

Thanks for the information. I thought that it is generally for null or negligible participation in a particular sport and not across all sports. And that too there is no hard and fast rule and depends entirely upon the discretion of the committee.
