Just a side note (as it's the second time I see it), but french NOC had nothing to do with it. It was Organisational Committe (COJO) call (with or without IOC friendly advices...)

Ok, I thought it was the French NOC that took the decision together with the COJO (at least, that's what I read...but obviously the news was not correct)...

for what it matters, I'll be more precise next time...;)

Wait, did he put "logic" and "IOC" in the same sentence? This is hardly a valid argument.

In terms of costs karate is one of the cheapest, the bigger issue is that they require more athletes than the other nominated sports (unless they decide to create another farce of having only 10 athletes per weightclass like in 2020). Would the sport sacrifice kumite and only have the individual kata events?

This quote should be well like here:

IOC President Thomas Bach claimed the four sports will make Paris 2024 "more gender balanced, more youthful and more urban" and "offer the opportunity to connect with the young generation" in the French capital.”

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair” - Nelson Mandela

IMO they got 3/4 right, which isn’t too too bad all things considered.

I really would like a clarification on the term "urban".

I’ve been thinking the small thing actually. It honestly just seems like a flash word to describe something popular amongst people of my generation.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
    • Italy also has its own list, although of course not every injury is as terribile  in terms of medal losses. In winter sports have unfortunately much more injuries than summer sports. In the summer only: cycling, volleyball and football.     - Brignone: will return in January, - Tabanelli: will return for the Olympics, - Bassino: season over, - Marta Rossetti: season over, - Lara Malsinier: season over.
    • TNT staff expect they will offer it at a price similar to what they offering the Winter Olympics for rather than the full TNT price.   But equally the main coverage is apparently going to be very different to what they do for the Olympics (Which is less pundits and studio chat than the BBC) with speculation it might be based on NBC’s Olympic coverage with tons of human interest etc.
    • India Sherret (ski cross)   Another name to the ever-growing list of injuries for the Canadian team… used to be excited for the Olympics, now not so much…
    • Voted  Thank you for extending the deadline and allowing me to vote once my exams are over. @OlympicIRL
