Yeah, never trust Colombians :p

Indeed, I don't like them in athletics (Ibargüen being the sole exception) or cycling, as they're blatant cheaters (of course, within the rules)

Brazil's fourth place in the women's 20km walk and bronze on the men's 20km walk. Years ago I would have thought it impossible that this category was our strongest.

Really sickening results in mens race walking. 50 year old Diniz walks the second best time in history and wins by almost 8 minutes. In mens 20 km race walking we had a guy from Russia (self-explanatory why this result is disgusting) and two guys from South America + a no-name from South Africa (also self-explanatory) at the top. If IAAF is really planning to cut race walking from the Olympics, it would be amazing news. The performances of Diniz and Bigot make it impossible to trust any french athletes in London.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Why is the last session scheduled late again... It's the last one, it's on a sunday, there is not a reason why it shouldn't have started earlier like in prior years..

Is it late? I'd say 19.00 is a rather ok time actually...much better than the swimming world championships, where every finals session started at a time when a majority of people would either still be working or just finishing/getting back home.

Although yes, in general scheduling just sucked. Lack of morning sessions meant there were way too many track events (including heats) at night, leading to the field events being shown in a miserable way. Earlier today I heard a BBC commentator call this "maybe the best world championships ever", but I think he has been blind or something, because apart from the presence of a full stadium nearly every time I can't think of a single good thing about these world champs.

- Live timing in long events was bad

- Scheduling sucked

- Field events were shown horribly poor

- All walking events in one day

I'm sure more things can be added to the list which I forgot now..

It's late here. :d No, seriously i see no reason why they didn't start an hour or two earlier. The race walks ended a long time ago.

For today they could indeed have done so :p

For the other days (especially Monday-Friday) I'd say this was a very good time.

    • There is an interview where Foy goes into more details, and I find it particularely heartbreaking because her reasons for not coming forward at the time (concerns about professional retaliation and concerns about the effect it would have on Sørensen and his family) remind me a lot of why someone I know who got sexually assaulted (and had bulletproof evidence of it) didn't report it to the police.

    • This is not a full retirement, but kind of a break/sabbatical due to...reasons.    For those who have been following @brunamoura's journey towards and last February eventually, finally, at the Olympics, this might be an interesting update. The 2030 Olympics are still in her sight, but next year's world championships in February seem...unlikely.   She still needs to do at least two surgeries, one on her nasal cavities due to a chronic inflammation that has been bothering her for years, and one on her legs. In the Olympic season she struggled immensely with pain in her legs, which in the freestyle technique made her sometimes just not even able to move and therefore finish or even start the races. The Olympic 10k freestyle was hard and painful, but she managed to get through it. We knew she was dealing with compartment syndrome, which is quite serious and certainly needs to be dealt with surgically, but the recovery time for that meant that doing so during the season would likely jeopardize the Olympics - again.   The plan was to do the surgeries this year, but that's unlikely to happen now...
    • My admittedly tiny sample at least made it feel like the safest and nicest place     Milan....I was very glad to be out of there, Bologna almost felt even worse, and I was also happy to leave Trento behind after barely a day there   Livigno didn't feel bad like that, the issue there is that Livigno people seem to believe the world outside of Livigno doesn't really exist.   Every time I have been in South Tyrol though, it always just felt...lovely, cozy, nice, friendly, and so on.   But obviously that is all a matter of opinion. Besides that I mostly went on statistics and Alto Adige generally scoring very high in things like quality of life and low crime rates
