Apparently FIS is thinkingabout throwing skiathlon out of the big events and introducing biathlon-alike pursuit instead.

All for the urban generation, of course.

I mean, pursuits are fine for stage races, but not for stand-alone races and most certainly not for medal events. It's already unfair enough to have the biathlon pursuit as Olympic medal event, don't start this with cross-country as well.

Wow, this was a very cool mass start roller ski race in Bogota. :d

4pMavWdzTBKdr4f1jeBvIw.png

:MEX:COL:POR:TGA all finished within 300 FIS points. :yikes:

Three more mass starts are scheduled. Hopefully there won't be any big breakaways that would prevent everyone from finishing below 300. :d:cheer:

Mery Kayrouz of Lebanon is back :d

You know, one of the two Lebanese women who was a teeny tiny bit behind in the 5k qualifying race at last season's world champs (15 minutes).

Click on the 'OdP sprint' file for today's sprint start list. Also, Manikala Rai of Nepal will be there, and a Lebanese guy.

Too bad the Lebanese didn't go to Bogota! :p

Meanwhile, it seems like :KGZ should qualify in cross.country this time, as their athlete competed successfully in that OdP sprint..

Apparently he is a businessman living in Salt Lake City, and also a squash player. I guess it's possible that someone has a same name, but come on, what are the odds? :p

Something tells me that he is the mastermind behind these Bogota races. :d

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
