Raphael Holzdeppe has injured himself during the German National Indoor Championships and won't compete at the WIC in Portland. He hopes to recover in a few weeks and qualify for the Olympics, but it's not sure.

Denmark will only be sending Andreas Martinsen who set a new danish record in 60m hurdles at 7,69. (Sara Slott qualified in 400m as well, but has rejected participating)

Meanwhile most other olympic hopefulls have started focusing on the outdoor season and hopefully some Olympic participations.

Somehow our Dutch federation managed to set standards for Portland which in some events are just ridiculous. 1.97m in women's HJ or 4.71m in women's PV for example

I remember that in past, there was some German? website with qualification list to Beijing - it was updated continuously during qualiication period. Do you remember for it? Do you know if there is this website also for Rio or indoor championship?

    • Vivat Slovakia    But in all seriousness, it's been repeatedly stated how important it is to qualify in a team event for the next Summer Olympics. However, I have no idea if we even have a realistic chance.   We only have one fewer individual athlete competing this year than we did in Paris, so individual quota spots aren't the main issue. Where can we find a competitive team, like we do in hockey? Maybe the women's handball team could start something big, but that's still far in the future, very likely unachievable in just two years.   And to be clear, as horrific as our medal tally from Paris looked, those were some of the unluckiest Olympics for Slovakia I have ever seen. Finishing in the top six seven times (!) is absolutely insane.

    • I really hope Nordic Combined doesn't get scrapped. Actually, I believe the Winter Olympics should keep growing with new sports and disciplines (3x3 Hockey, Ice Cross, Speed Skiing, Ice Climbing), otherwise they won't feel like a true celebration of sports like their summer counterpart.
    • In fact, well, no. Hockey is extremely physically demanding, I even think it is the most physically demanding winter sport of all. I mean keeping more than a minute on ice is just cardiac. The shifts are there for a reason.   25 players rosters are absolutely justified. You must have 4 lines to keep the stamina the whole game.   Hard to persuade people who never watched hockey though, I can understand your point, but sadly, the point is wrong
    • Stats are ok, but the time she losts on the range every time... My point was that she is more likely to make us losing the olympic relay than to make us winning it.
    • I'll jump on the off-topic with an unpopular opinion - ice hockey isn't so stamina demanding to justify 25 people rosters. And it doesn't have big playing fields like football or rugby for example, where you'd require so many reserves. 15 field players + 3 goalies should be good. Or 18+3 at max. But 25 is too much imo and the constant substitutes are too much as well.
    • But her shooting surely never was horrendous, or even bad for her standards.
