Incredible 48.56 AR from Christine Mboma :NAM in the Bydgoszcz 400m.

"Probably just terribly wrong timing" doesn't really work there, maybe people will start believing it now :d

Well, unlike their neighbours :AZE, who take a less pedantic approach to national origins.

And now Alvertsian got a universality place in the women's 100m. She is a long/triple jumper and never ran 100m in her long career (her World Athletics profile has results from 2011). Her first (and only) 100m ever was actually last Saturday in the Balkan Championships

Looks like Armenia is really trying to build their team and get their diaspora athletes to compete for them. I've noticed that :USA Allison Halverson (heptathlon) and :GRE Kristina Alvertsian (triple jump) both now compete for Armenia. Halverson has posts about being Armenian on her instagram, so I guess her mother is Armenian? And Alvertsian obviously has an Armenian surname.

There might be others too, but these are the only two that I saw so far.

Here's another one: https://www.worldathletics.org/athletes/armenia/alexander-donigian-14423245

more something like "let's get quick with her gender examination"...

I wouldn't be surprised at all if she's a new case of the Semenya & co. saga...:coffee:

for sure, there's nothing to trust when you see something like that...

I forgot to update that Mykolas Alekna :LTU threw the second furthest distance of all time in the 1.75kg Discus Throw at 69.77.

It was only 36 centimetres shorter than the World Youth record by Mykyta Nesterenko :UKR in 2008.

Mykolas Alekna is scheduled to take part in both the U20 championships being held this year.

Seemingly she is not eligible for the 400m at the Olympics, but is for the 200m - which tells its own story.

I saw it on a British forum, but it’s also over in the Athlete Qualifications thread now.

    • Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2025      Welcome back to the final session of the Totallympics Annual International Song Contest 2025. Over the course of the next hour and a half we will crown the winner of this year's TISC Annual.   Right now, Ireland are in pole position to claim a sixth TISC title. They are holding a 28 point lead over 2nd placed France with 3rd placed Italy a further 6 points behind.   Ireland still have to vote and there is a maximum of 96 points on offer so theoretically, 26 nations still have a shot at winning from here.   The battle for the podium is also fascinating as 4th-placed Argentina sit just 6 points behind Italy, with Romania, Albania, Spain and Germany tightly bunched behind.   Or will another nation come from the depths to climb the heights of the podium?   Let's see how it all develops! Kicking off the voting in session 4 will be Turkey. Good evening Turkey, can we please have the results of the votes of the Turkish national jury?      Juries Voted: 26/34    1  Ireland   136  18  Guatemala   53  2  France   108  19  Netherlands   51  3  Italy   102  20  Tunisia   50  4  Argentina   96  21  Denmark   49  5  Romania   85  22  Poland   48  6  Albania   85  23  Sweden   46  7  Spain   84  24  Lithuania   45  8  Germany   84  25  Malta   43  9  Canada   74  26  Turkey   43  10  Mexico   73  27  Greece   37  11  Serbia   66  28  Slovenia   36  12  Kazakhstan   65  29  China   34  13  Portugal   65  30  Bulgaria   32  14  Great Britain   63  31  Indonesia   30  15  United States   62  32  Slovakia   28  16  Ukraine   57  33  Brazil   28  17  Israel   55  34  India   15
