Judo Qualification for Summer Olympic Games 2016

So, qualification system says that South African quota will (if refused) go to DR Congo (next best from Africa).

Unused men's quota from Oceania will go to the highest ranked unqualified nation in men's event, and that should be Uzbekistan in -100kg.

Is there any Oceania quota and why AUS and NZL are not using it? Is that known?

So if i understand correctly Croatias Kumric (men 100) is second in the reserve list and Miskovic (w 63) is first in the reserve list? But only when it comes to direct qualification replacing, which probably will not happen.

When it comes to replacing of continetal quota and invitation places (which is more probable) both are in 5th place on reserve list.

With one more event to go I decided to take a look at the potential wild card selections. Judo has 20 tripartite quotas in total. Currently 32 nations have at least one athlete with points that do not have an athlete qualified either through the world rankings or continental rankings. I have constructed a list of those nations along with the event which they have the most points in. As a reminder having a ranking is not necessary to be given a tripartite quota. There were multiple athletes in 2012 where they did not have a ranking, but were given a quota.

1. :MNE – Men’s -81kg – 541 pts

2. :MON – Men’s -60kg – 233 pts

    • changes that go absolutely against the Italians (notoriously the top swimmers and not the best shooters in MP) 😭😭😭   now it's really time to axe MP from the Games 😈🥳
    • I think there was a feeling before the obstacle course was introduced that really, really solid endurance runners were starting to dominate - in Triathlon you might call it the Alex Yee conundrum. Personally, I don't mind at all if the 'martial' elements are reemphasised as that is the real 'soul' of the sport - Triathlon, Marathon and Road cycing are there for genuine endurace, MP is in some senses a 'soldiery' test - one reason I thought Judo might have been a better addition than the obstacle course. But placing a higher emphasis on the fight bits over the flight bits seems a legitimate idea - though it should also increase the X-country nature of the run so that the test of a fresh shooter at the beginning is rather different from the test of a knackered one at the end. I quite like the artificial hill in rio.
