Actually we call countries by almost same name as their English ones. Except that if north east west end south is there it becomes uttar, poorv, pashchim and dakshin respectively and dweep for islands.

Apart from this :

USA: Sanyukt Rajya Amrica

UAE : Sanyukt Arab Ameerat

China : Cheen

Russia : Roose

Netherlands : Holland ( nowadays Netherland  itself )

UK/GBR : Britian

Calling the Netherlands Holland? Ouch, this hurts my non-Holland heart :p

I see the name a few times a day for quite some time here, but still I catch myself all the time on wondering how horny the Dutch nation is that they called their forest after the female parts of body.

That is definitely not called Veluwe here :p

Well, at least the Dutch have their preferred version in English. Unlike some other countries, forever stuck with the hungry joke and the confusion with the Huns.

What do you know about confusing Holland if you're not from Poland? Yes, it's still "Holandia" here too (yet in a diplomatic, official situations, "Królestwo Niderlandów", as it was also before).
