I wouldn't call it points collecting either. It's basically tailor-made and streamlined for a very specific type of cyclist that Sagan happens to be. Most so-called drama we get concerning the green jersey is when the mountain stages kick in on Week 3 (or when someone gets axed from the tour). Nothing to do with points collecting.

Excuse me, but I think you are wrong here.

 

I am persuated it is the opposite. Because of Peter domination in this category, the organizers made a lot of changes and frankly This year it looks that it was build more for the sprinters than for the Sagan likes. I mean look, all intermediate sprints are this year in the first part of the stages, in every single stage  always before the first stage climb and in the first 50 km. (it never was like this before)

 

+ The points in the finish in the so-called flat stages (for sprinters) is just unbelievable 50 points for the sprint stage winner ! 

 

If this all is not made to help more the sprinters than riders like Sagan, then I really don´t understand to cycling nothing anymore

To be fair, he still wins it every year with a landslide margin, so one can't really say the organizers are plotting against him.

 

Take FIS for example. When they grew tired of Stenmark winning, they invented Super-G. When they grew tired of slalom specialists turning tables in combined, they switched the order of disciplines. When they grew tired of Kowalczyk winning Tour de Ski, they organized it with 5/7 stages in freestyle.

 

All things considered, Sagan should feel lucky that the organizers never went for such drastic measures in his case.

The thing is, the TdF is not a true objective test of sporting skill like the Olympics.  It’s a commercial promotion like boxing.   If the second best heavyweight in the World is a Nicaraguan, and the fifth best is an American, you know the American is going to get the World Title fight before the Nicaraguan, because he brings in more money.  Sad but everyone knows it.  
 

The aim of the organisers is to maximise revenue for sponsors, so they are going to design courses & tweak the rules to create the biggest viewership.

Which is excellent, in my opinion: more sprint points for the sprinters. Just like big mountaintop finishes should give way more points than climbs of the same category somewhere early in the stage.

This has nothing to do with Tour de France, to be fair. In every single cycling race they are trying to make courses that provide for as good as possible racing. And yes, if one person dominates something for ages and ages, it's not necessarily a bad thing to make some changes (if that's even the reason of course, let's be honest - Sagan is way more of a moneymaker for sponsors than, say, Sam Bennett).

cool, but why the sprinters should be favored ?

 

They do have already 50 points for flat stage win, a sprinter can win 4 stages and has already 200 points than can finish the whole tour on the gruppeto without moving his ass in the hardest stages.

 

The intermediate sprints before the climbs is just ridiculous, this completely removed any chance for breakaways for riders fighting for the Green, there absolutely no more motivation for them to attack if their only goal of the stage is before already the first mini climb at KM 20.

 

But yeah, I understand it is the highest time to stop Sagan

It is not, but...sure. Let's just go with that and enjoy the Tour. After all, the sprint stages are just to cover the ground between the real work anyway.
