Just wondering, with the addition of a women's luge doubles, would the mixed team event expand to include both the men's and women's doubles or just stay the same with the Open doubles?

Personally I would rather keep the open doubles because otherwise it will keep limiting the number of competitive nations.

I believe they announced earlier that all 4 events will be a part of the relay.

I always found them rather dull, but with 4 legs it will become even more predictable, and frankly, unwatchable.

  • 4 weeks later...

A question:

I don't know much about skeleton, so maybe you know better.

How many teams from one NOC will participate in 2026 olympics - mixed team skeleton event???

So it looks like relay in Nordic Combined was excluded from the programme, Team sprint instead

Might be one of the most predictable events in the entire (Winter) Olympic program, with a super-small list of countries with any remote sort of medal chance, but still sad to see it go :p

Yuuuuuuup. Same deal with the Nordic Combined team event, it's not a team sprint.

The alpine combined event is also now a team event.

Yeah, they have been doing it this season.  It does have the good effect of making the last eight cutoff point a lot less predictable, but the medals generally go to the usual nations.

not so fast, man!

according to the main Italian expert, the 2026 combined event in Alpine Skiing will still be the "classic" DH (or SG, the jury is still out) + SL individual event

any possible format change will only be applied from the 2030 on

    • awful... the track is as fast (slow) as in Hamar Meike Veen skated the same time in the 1500m and Serena Pergher did the same in the 500m I think by February it will be even faster
    • I like the concept of this Festival of Music! I will also share a couple of Christmas songs from Spain's TISC Open 2024 representative David Bisbal.   The first one 'Los peces en el río' (The fish in the river) is a flamenco/pop cover of a traditional villancico originated in the 1500s and the second one 'Todo es posible en Navidad' (All is possible in Christmas) was relased last year.   Los peces en el río   Todo es posible en Navidad   I hope you like them and have a wonderful holiday season!
    • you don't even have idea how it works   last week he was the best of the field and now he's in bad shape?   on Friday he was 24th despite 4 (4!!!!!) missed shots and Yesterday he suddenly went out of shape?   be serious!   he either just had bad skis or he got sick, like many other athletes (see Vittozzi)   the snow in LGB is usually shit, results are always heavily influenced by that and Italy is one of the teams that usually struggle a lot in that place   nothing new and nothing to be worried about

    • Festival of Music   For this year’s Festival of Music I thought I would change it up a bit. Since we are approaching the festive holiday season, I want you all to post some festive songs from your country. If you don’t celebrate Christmas then perhaps some other song that has a special place in your heart during an important celebration.     I’m going to start with a Christmas song from Ireland’s TISC Annual 2023 representatives Picture This.     Picture This - This Christmas
    • pair Danilova/Tsiba hasn't fulfilled the national criteria to participate in the Games but their skating federation has sent a request to the national olympic committee for an exception and to include them to the TeamNL. https://www.schaatsen.nl/nieuws/knsb-dient-verzoek-in-voor-olympisch-startbewijs-danilova-tsiba/
    • Juniors were there recently and the track was awful   Although that's not necessarily bad. Tracks don't all need to be fast, a slow track (like the horribly slow one in Poland) simply favors a different style of athletes. Training a lot there doesn't really give much extra advantage though, not like in sliding sports where of course as host country you make sure your athletes know every single meter a year before the Olympics.    And to get back on topic: speed skater Elisa Dul broke her tibia and fibula in a training fall yesterday and will obviously be out of the OQT and so the Olympics.
    • The PSL race in Davos was (yet another) insult to a beautiful discipline. The red course (which was actually yellow) had several holes and an exposed ice sheet, which made the athletes slide way too long, causing DNFs or massive time losses. The only positive note is that Caffont won despite racing on the more dangerous course in the final
