Road Cycling 2016 Discussion Thread

The Shark, The Heart, The Champion:bowdown::bowdown::clap: This was one of the most frustrating and painfull races for me to watch. This was pictured for Nibali to win and seeing him be so bad for 16 days and losing so much time to rookies hurt so much. I surely thought he was going to lose a GT that was his just like against Horner in the Vuelta, but everything thankfully finish with a happy end.:woot: Astana out-foxed the competition again, only the great Contador escaped them at last years Giro. And also good or bad Valverde is once again on the podium. The old guns still showing the young riders how it is done.

Incredibly lucky victory for Nibali of course, but let's be fair, those last two days were impressive. There's no sign he would have won it without Kruijswijk's fall so it's quite lucky for Nibali, but at least he attacked in the last two stages making his win a little bit bearable.

All in all it's such a huge shame that what so far was a fantastic Grand Tour finished in such a way, decided by a fall.

Horrible crash in the Tour of Belgium with, again, two motorcycles. Apparently they were riding on a path to the side of the road, which suddenly ended, resulting in them suddenly being in the mud. Because of that they lost the control of their motorbikes and "flew" into the peloton. Reports are saying around 20 riders were hit and 11 are transferred to a hospital. Stig Broeckx (BEL, Lotto-Soudal) is apparently the worst hit rider: some are saying he has been resuscitated and moved to the Aachen hospital by trauma helicopter.

Motorbikes and cars continue to play pinball with cyclists...

Nizzolo finally wins a stage after nine second places. What a sprinter, he really needs ALL sprinters to be gone before he can win :roflmao:

The best part is, he might get disqualified for his move :d (I think Modolo would win then?)

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
