Got our first competition of the season coming up in Solitude, Utah :USA this weekend.  Live on Discovery Plus etc, plus also YouTube and the Olympic Channel.  If you are new to the sport, the sprint races on Saturday will be the format you'll find easy to understand.

It's been a slow start to the winter for many West Coast North American ski resorts, but you'll see plenty of snow on the broadcast today. I'm still sizing up the prospect of digging my way out and heading to the venue :d

Still trying to get over the disappointment of failing to qualify a full men’s team in short track, not expecting much… we’re probably not going to get a quota as usual with our terrible terrible luck

Just now getting around to these results...glad to see USA win a gold.  Didn't think we were much of a contender here.  Home soil luck?

Yes, that and a lot of the main medal contenders :ITA:SUI:ESP:AUT either didn't have teams entered/or fielded B-C teams

I thought that was the case.  I just started watching skimo last year, but even then, I didn't recognize any of the women.  I recognized the top Swiss guy, I think.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

    • Off to Milan for the 145th session of the International Olympic Committee. Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.
