I get the feeling this is going from bad to worse with many sports. I mean, archery isn’t going anywhere here if we are forced to pay a subscription to watch the worlds and have nothing else to go off.

I mean, it is a fun sport, but to me not fun enough to pay 10 euro’s to watch this tourney.

Main reason some sports grow and some always stay in the shadows. Having a regular circuit of events, on known broadcast networks, in a multitude of countries is a huge factor in gaining an audience.

It's not fair to compare archery with skiing, biathlon or cycling for example, because those sports have had decades of popularity and a much bigger reach. But you can compare it to sports like snooker, darts, where having tournaments every month more or less, gets people invested in the players, it's easy for viewers to tune in without going through hoops and are much more likely to develop a habit of following the sport.

I'm guessing it's down to sponsors.  Luge, bob & skeleton are hardly the world's biggest sport, yet have absolutely the best live streaming coverage.

Exactly that. Putting your sport behind an exclusive paywall for all events basically means that they only can shine once in four years. Mind you, I like the sports at the olympics a lot, but there is so much more that I can watch either for free or on a deal package.

Winter has an advantage over summer because crystal globe for a World Cup win, have become popular there. Only the Nordic Combined hasn't been able to capitalize on this.

D'Almeida :BRA third consecutive world championship medal.

It's a shame he hasn't yet been able to showcase his full potential at the Olympics.

Two gold medals for Spain. :yikes::yikes:

I'd never seen them in that sport before.

They did win an Olympic men's team gold... in 1992.

    • Yes, but Geiger and Wellinger have both achieved some success in major events, while Paschke hasn't. Geiger certainly has a better chance in Cortina than Paschke at now, but it has to be the his decision to withdraw and give a chance to his team- mate. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair to him. I don't think Horngacher will force him to withdraw.
