Nobody comes out of this race very brilliantly (except for Bergsma and Thorup, of course), but the strategy of all the teams with 2 athletes in the final was especially baffling.

Even if the pack chased Bergsma, Van de Bunt would've jumped away straight after, and if Van de Bunt was caught, Bergsma would jump away again. The thing is, too many countries pick skaters who are almost pure sprinters, which leaves nearly everyone very vulnerable when it comes to a race where a lot of chasing needs to be done. Especially if the countries with 2 skaters barely do any work in the chase
