Had not realised that earlier in the day he crashed, dislocated his shoulder & got back on!  

 

So he can be excused a slight loss of focus.

Mont Ventoux today. Let's hope the 55:51 minutes record by Iban Mayo survives today: one of the most talented climbers ever, in a time trial with the start at the base of the Ventoux and the EPO bursting out of his ears, that record really, really should not ever be broken  

 

I believe that was done in the same Tour where the team of UAE's current leaders were taken out because of a massive doping scandal, but I may be wrong (they were definitely involved in the infamous Saunier Duval team).

No, that was in Dauphine back at Euskaltel. Mayo didn’t really do that much at Saunier Duval as he was quickly banned for EPO, even before Ricco and Cobo and the likes.
