Some big withdrawals for Canada:

Damian Warner has withdrawn from the decathlon with an achilles injury

Evan Dunfee has withdrawn from the 20km race walk due to a grade 2 hamstring tear he suffered during his 35km race

Earlier these championships someone had a grade 1 hamstring injury. This week is the first time I heard about different grades, what's up with that? :p

Too bad though, but luckily he already has gold.

Ok, the best World Champ for us in years, but of course behind Spain... If something doesn't change, they'll be better than us everywhere in a few years.

And that way we'll finish behind Spain in the medal count, because they have a dominant man/woman and we don't. This has been our problem for years, and Spain still has their share of Alcarazs, Nadals, Yamals etc.

We usually have not had dominant athletes. Off the top of my head I think we only had 2 Olympics where we won more gold medals than silver or bronze medals (1992 and 2016).

Anyways, Russia is still missing, so not even sure María Pérez would be the best if Russians were allowed to compete.
