It's a shame there's no Olympic qualification for Europe here... Italy is by far the best European team with this lineup from this tournament, and at the European Championships we lost to the Netherlands in the final. Hopefully, we can maintain this current lineup until the Olympic qualification.

no chance im afraid, because the mlb wont release players during the season

So less than 12 hours to go to for the controversial final to start rigged in favour of :USA

Funny how WBC held every 4 years has almost the same teams in same groups, controversial decisions in semis aside ensures such unjust final.

Thanks to tournament rules, Team USA, having played Sunday and getting the day off Monday, has a pitching advantage. Every USA pitcher is technically eligible to pitch. Venezuela, meanwhile, will be limited by back-to-back rules.

It doesn't quite seem fair to have a setup like this. Hopefully no baseball after 2028. Olympics doesn't need such unfair sports.

actually, in a short span like in this tournament, it's a lot better to play in 2 consecutive days and keep the daily routine than having a day off

the only issue might be the rules about pitching, but this time they don 't have any influence since no Venezuelan pitcher threw more than 39 pitches last night and therefore they are all available tonight

remember that baseball sometimes also plays doubleheaders (with only 30/60 min break between 2 matches)

playing in consecutive days is the rule, not an exception for those players

Of course will be rooting for :USA tonight, but so much love and heart for :VEN.  I know it would mean a lot to all of you and for your country.  (This Spanish teacher has a soft spot for mis hermanos americanos. :))  Hope it's a good game, and may the best team win.

:VEN Wilyer Abreu solo home run!

2-0 Venezuela

:USA has to get the bats going. Gotta get Rodriguez out of the game. He is pitching well.

and he's out after 4.1 innings.

Did not have 5.02 ERA Eduardo Rodriguez shutting down the US lineup on my bingo card.

    • Yea I only used transit besides this Uber / bus to the airport and back. All the venues were at the end of the line, so it allowed you to speak with other fans/volunteers etc. I even met Corrine Stoddard's mom after the first session of short track on the way back, and told her to remember our conversation if she won a medal later in the Olympics. We know how that ended up...
    • I used public transit the entire time I was in Milan.   My first day was a doozy, because I had to two flights to reach Malpensa, and then the train into town was delayed, and then I got confused a station and boarded a tram instead of the metro, proceeded to travel in the wrong direction, got off, walked back to the station, found the metro, got off a station early, walked around a kilometer to my hotel, and checked in.   My colleagues mostly took cabs upon arrival, but I deduced to take the frugal approach. That said, I was a true public transit professional by the time I left Milan.   I actually enjoyed my rides to and from venues, because I'd just chat up fans and volunteers from different countries. It helped me learn more about the city too.
    • It's the olympics, sleep is for the weak!    The first day i got there i was on a 12 hour flight from l.a to rome (flight that left mid day), lay over, another flight to milan, uber to hotel, then right away to speed skating (1500m men), then after uber to hockey venue for women's gold final, then after the celebrations uber to the hotel, i ended up being awake about 36 hours that day, the next morning i thought to go sightseeing in the center of milan, but ended up sleeping until like 2pm..... and had speed skating/short track that night
    • I tried to get onto the metro multiple times and gave up    I had just arrived the day of from Bangkok (12 hr flight) and was just exhausted and wanted to sleep
    • Plus, you missed out on a potential metro ride with me, which is quite priceless in my opinion
    • My hotel was very close to Rho so was easy to get there, but it was so far from the hockey venue that after the women's gold medal match it was so expensive to get back, and also the next day after the usa slovakia semis it took forever, the asshole driver took the city and not the freeway
    • Uber cost me $224 CAD to get back to the hotel from the OC. It basically prevented me from buying tickets to a speed skating session
    • Romania's national team coach, Mircea Lucescu, has died half an hour ago He was in hospital since March 30th, just before the friendly match against Slovakia. Unbelievable how the life can have such turns...in March 26th he was in Istanbul playing the WC qualifying play-off vs Turkiye and now he died.    Thank you very much for every moments you bring us in your huge career (he's on 3rd place in a most trophies won in career, after Ferguson and Guardiola) and may your soul rest in peace, Mr. Lucescu.
