Not a good start to the World Cup for our sabre team, but it is to be expected after the heartbreak of missing Paris. They will need some time to get the groove back.

"only" a silver and a bronze medal for :ITA in Today's team events

still, a very good start of the season for us (at least, where possible...the women's sabre is just a lost cause), given that we have (even too much) rejuvenated teams in all the weapons, except for Foil

But Fiamingo and Santuccio will return this season? What hurts the most is that Federico Vismara ended his career at the age of 27. Marco Fichera did the same after Tokyo 2021. Such fencers will be missed. As for women's sabre the Italian coach from Bologna led the Ukrainians to gold at the Olympic Games in Paris. Sure, they have Kharlan and we don't but the rest of the team is pretty average. Maybe the coaching staff for the girls should change, because something has clearly not been right in recent years.

Her mother has lived in Italy for over 30 years and competes for us in veteran competitions. Additionally, she worked in the Italian federation in the epee training staff from 2006 to 2014.

But Poland raised her Mother, it's sad that she was not patriotic and did not have more influance on daughter to represent Poland. Italy is strong enough

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
