Federer91 2,849 Posted November 10, 2024 #15 Share Posted November 10, 2024 Not a good start to the World Cup for our sabre team, but it is to be expected after the heartbreak of missing Paris. They will need some time to get the groove back.

phelps 7,732 Posted November 10, 2024 #17 Share Posted November 10, 2024 "only" a silver and a bronze medal for in Today's team events still, a very good start of the season for us (at least, where possible...the women's sabre is just a lost cause), given that we have (even too much) rejuvenated teams in all the weapons, except for Foil copravolley

What hurts the most is that Federico Vismara ended his career at the age of 27. Marco Fichera did the same after Tokyo 2021. Such fencers will be missed. As for women's sabre the Italian coach from Bologna led the Ukrainians to gold at the Olympic Games in Paris. Sure, they have Kharlan and we don't but the rest of the team is pretty average. Maybe the coaching staff for the girls should change, because something has clearly not been right in recent years.
