Federica Brignone yesterday started training on the gates - I think it's a giant or SG. She probably can became to the World Cup at Kronplatz on January 20

Unfortunately, with the way this whole comeback has unfolded, i can't see her with anything more than a top 15 position in Cortina.. If that at all is achievable given, that she will almost have no races before the OG and no training for 8 months..

Wonder if this will haunt her in the coming years (especially if she does badly), to injure herself in such an unnecessary race..

Well, that's the thing about a dangerous sport like Alpine Skiing.  As soon as you start thinking that some races are too risky to do, you might as well give up altogether.

Yes, she was unlucky, but it could just as easily have happened during some training, like with Gut, etc. Brignone has been essentially injury-free throughout her long career, which is very rare in this sport. It's unfortunate that this happened after her best season ever and just 1 year before the Olympic Games in home, when she just missing of win the Olympic gold medal in her great career. With the gold in Cortina, she would have become a legend of Italian skiing, on par with Tomba. Now she's still the best Italian woman in history, but the miss of Olympic gold will likely haunt her for the rest of her life.
