Joking aside, and assuming that more swimmers don't come down with something, this impacts our medal chances in one event, and even that event we were not a medal favourite. Hardly a disaster, yet.

You’re absolutely correct - count back rule seems to only come into effect to determine the precise order in the finals (top 6) from what I could find anyway:

Pretty much. We start as underdogs but, in theory, it's not a bad draw. Probably the best we could have hoped for. Getting to the QF was already a success. Anything more would be a huge bonus.
