Bryony Page’s Gold in trampoline means the English County of Yorkshire has won a Gold in every Olympics since 2000!

Is she not from Crewe?

She lives in Sheffield but does that count?

OK, I bet that all those decades of suffering, :SWE must be quietly happy that :NOR are 0-0-0.  Even :FIJ are in the table.

A bit suprised that the nordic countries except Sweden has 0 medals so far. But the Norwegian golds will soon start coming!

Day 7 Update

Right now, at the end of Day 7, we have the following gold medals for the USA, China, and France:

:USA 9 gold medals (-5 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)

:CHN 13 gold medals (-6 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)

:FRA 11 gold medals (+8 compared to the same period at the 2020 Games)

This would imply the following total at the end of the 2024 Games:

:USA USA - 34 gold medals

:CHN China - 32 gold medals

:FRA France - 18 gold medals

Well, from now on, :FRA's medal rate will unfortunately drop significantly. :(

Our real opportunities of gold medals are now inferior than 10 I think (Léon Marchand no longer has an individual race :p). We lost too many gold medals in Judo and Fencing (only two last hopes for tomorrow).

But we will be happy to beat our record for medals in the Olympic modern era, and I hope that our athletes will exceed 50 medals at least.

In any case, this first week was incredible and full of emotions. :yes

The Netherlands are becoming somewhat a water superpower with medals in rowing, swimming, sailing. Just need to find someone who can paddle a kayak and jump from a platform. Interesting for a country, which has part of it's territory sinking into the ocean :p

Finally, it will be interesting to compare the performances of the 2012 hosts: the UK, with the 2024 hosts: France.

Happy for you all -  a happy host is a happy games; it's been a wonderful party, unsurprisingly sharing many of the traits that made London so much fun (The Brits invented codification of many sports, France invented international sporting organisation (and the Greeks invented the actual Games, but sshhh)) - even if there was a touch of Rio about the water quality issues!

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)

    • I read the Olympic qualification documents for weightlifting. A country can have the opportunity to send a maximum of 4 athletes in one gender, but the conditions are very strict.
    • world champion Jessica Schilder opened her season up with 19.78 in France.
    • wait! what???   so, there won't be specialized double sculls, but those boats would have to feature 2 single specialists if a Nation wants to enter 2 proper singles M+W??? tell me I misread the expalaination...
    • Yeah, they do get broadcast pretty regularly.  I remember even back in Bode Miller's day they would show the training.
