Federer91 2,849 Posted June 18, 2024 #23 Share Posted June 18, 2024 There is no reason to have this event, not this week, not this month, but this year as a whole... It's a complete joke and devalues the European Championships. The swimmers don't want it, the fans could care less, most TVs don't show it... You can name it "Random Belgrade meeting number 4" and hardly anyone could tell the difference. Swimming has one of the worst Governing bodies, when it comes to organising their events and calendar. Makedonas 2,165 Posted June 19, 2024 #24 Share Posted June 19, 2024 I think a lot of people here clearly are in denial about Greece becoming the new power of European swimming, so they make ridiculous comments to diminish the prestige of these European Championships Ted, Epic Failure, Gianlu33 and 3 others
Epic Failure 355 Posted June 19, 2024 #25 Share Posted June 19, 2024 The entry lists for the other "European Champs" this weekend (Sette Colli) are out - https://www.federnuoto.it/settecolli-2024/settecolli-2024-documents/9471-settecolli-ip-2024-entry-list-elenco-iscritti/file.html Between the various national competitions, the actual Euros and Sette Colli, we'll see most Europeans swimming this week. Who wants to be in charge of creating a spreadsheet to amalgamate the times into one super Euro-Colli-Trials result?
dullard 709 Posted June 19, 2024 #26 Share Posted June 19, 2024 There's so much going on rn I can hardly keep up. It's a bit strange that Settecolli seems way more stacked than Euros. Josh

It's a bit strange that Settecolli seems way more stacked than Euros. Paolo Barelli is way more respected than that idiot nowadays in charge of LEN Acquatics the Settecolli meet is the oldest of its kind in Europe, this year it's the 60th anniversary and the Italian Federation has done a lot to promote and protect their Crown Jewel unfortunately, LEN just wanted to make a war against Barelli (who's the former president and has been for a very, very long while...getting swimming way more popular in Europe in the last 20 years at least) and they even scheduled this year's European Championship in this month in sign of disrespect, when in the Olympic years it's always been scheduled in April or max at the beginning of May the consequence of this stupid behaviour by Costa and his accolades is there to be seen dullard and Ted
