Most likely 2-3 with 4 being our max if everything goes well

- Women Hockey (Silver)

- Men Rugby Seven (Bronze/Silver)

- Football (I'm not a fan of Mascherano as a coach but we'll see)

- Tennis (Men's Doubles, but not a lock as people expect as Zeballos wasn't called)

We won't win anything in Tennis, vain hopes.

Football looking sketchy as well right now.

Hockey, Rugby and maybe a bronze in Nacra is my prediction.

I know it's unlikely but still is one of the biggest chances we have, to me it was a mistake to not call Zeballos, imo we should have leaved out a singles player (probably Etcherverry) and have 2 strong doubles

Yeah, 2-4 is the most likely scenario, with women's hockey being a lock and men's rugby as the next most probably podium, but not a given thing. Then football is the biggest potential medal, but the team could crash big time and wouldn't surprise me at all.

Then is the Nacra 17 boat with a good chance to fight for a minor medal. There are other teams/athletes that have the background or potential to medal if the planets align (men's hockey, men's volley, Lucas Guzmán in taekwondo, Fede Gil in skeet, men's doubles in tennis, Torres in BMX Freestyle), but I don't think it'll happen tbh, hope to be wrong, though.

For :KOR, hopefully 7 Gold and 25 medals in total.

Good gold chances (7)

1~3. Archery Men's team, Archery Women's team, Archery Mixed team, and Archery Women's individuals. Checked 4, Although, only ~3 of them are realistic.

 - Women's team are in difficulty as they struggled in recent championship in Berlin, and in world cup losed twice vs :CHN team.

 - Men's team and Mixed team are in very high chance.

 - At least one individual wins are possible, as always. Of course, in archery there are many good individual players than team games. I'll bet Lim Si-Hyeon (Women) for gold, either

4. Badminton Women single : An Se-young    (WR#1, maybe vs. Chen ( :CHN) in final) or Women's doubles Baek and Lee(WR#2, but having good win record recently. also vs :CHN)

5. Fencing Men's Sabre team :  (WR#1, maybe vs. :USA in final)  or Women's Epee team (WR#2, maybe vs. :ITA)

6. Modern pentathlon women : Sung Seung-Min  (Wch#1 & WR#1, maybe vs. :HUN:ITA)

7. Shooting Women's pistol 25m : Kim Ye-Ji and Yang Ji-In, (maybe vs. :GER players), or rifle 10m Keum Ji-Hyeon and Ban Hyojin (vs. :CHN). Both of those pistol and rifle we have good records in 3rd~4th ISSF world cup, after new olympic national team member was chosen.

Good medal chances (about 15~17, except gold)

2 Archery (Men's individuals : Kim Woo Jin (Men), Lee Woo Seok (Men) ) + Women's team

2 badminton :One for Seo Seung-Jae, who plays both in Men's doubles (WR#4, Kang & Seo), Mixed doubles (WR#3, Seo & Chae) could get one medal at least, although gold will be difficult) and Women's doubles

1 Fencing : In men's sabre and Women's epee if not successful in gold

3 Judo : Men's 81kg (Lee, WR#3), Men's +100kg (Kim, WR#1, although there is Liner), Women's -57kg (Huh, WR#3) and Women's +78kg (Kim, WR#4) all have realistic chance of being top 4 and get medal

2 Taekwondo : Men's 58kg (Park Tae Joon WR#5 --but no #4 in olympic--) Men's 80kg (Seo Geon-Woo WR#4) and Women's +67kg (Lee Da-Bin WR#3) all have good chance for medal

1~2 Shooting : We had good record in 2024 ISSF world cup totally. Hopefully we could get additional medal also in Men's pistol or Mixed games.

1~2 Swimming : We have three freestyle player/team having 4th record in last 1 year. At least one medal for Hwang Sun-Woo (Men FS 200) Kim Woo Min (Men FS 400) and Men FS 200x4 team.

1 Table tennis : Lim Jong-hoon and Shin Yu-bin (Mixed doubles, #3), behind china #1 and rivalry between #2 Japan #3 Korea

1 Weightlifting : Park Hye-Jeong (Women's +81kg). strong silver medal candidate

Possible other medal chances  (additional 2~3 medals?)

1 Athletics : Woo Sang-Hyuk (Men's High jump)

1 Artistic gymnastics : Yeo Seo-Jeong (Women's vault) (Tokyo Olympic #3 & 23 WCh #3), of course after Biles and Andrade

1 Pentathlon : Jeon Woong-tae (Men)

1 Golf (Women) : Ko Jin-Young (Women#3) . Actually having 3 players in <WR#15, only USA and korea

1 Breaking (Men) : Hong10 won olympic qualification in #2, and was also silver medalist in Asian game right after Japan's flagbearer Shigekix.

1 Sports climbing (Combined men) : Lee Do-Hyeon in Olympic qualification #1 (Men's combined) and Seo Chae-Hyun in olympic qualification #2. Although almost all medal candidates were not in that qualification.

1 Fencing individuals : Oh sang-Wook (WR#4 in Sabre Men) and Song Se-ra (WR#7 in Epee Women)

1~2 Table tennis team games  : #5 in Men, #3 in Women's team rankings.

1~2 additional shooting

Australia

Aiming for 7-10 gold in Swimming

2-3 Gold in by Jessica Fox

Saya  and Logan Martin in bmx

rugby 7s women's gold

2 good chances in women's high jump

2 gold in rowing

Women's soccer have decent chance at gold

Matt Richards in track cycling maybe one gold

Can grab gold in trap shooting

Men's hockey always contenders

Men's trap shooting

Swimming as always will win us bulk of medals

18 gold will be a target and best ever result. As long no nation with smaller population then us beats us on medal tally guessing Netherlands biggest threat to do so.

Anyone else i missed that has decent chance winning gold for Australia?

Nina Kennedy in Pole Vault is probably a better chance for gold than olyslagers at the moment considering how Mahuchikh just broke the WR.

Other chances I would add include Men and Woman’s park skateboarding, and also Men’s K2 500m sprint.
Surfing as well both chances

I know Faith is incredible but Jessica Hull has made absurd drops in time do you think she can win gold?

    • I remember Caroline Golubitsky. She competed with Vezzali for a while but not for long. Rita Konig, whom Vezzali defeated in the final of the Olympic Games in 2000, was more famous, as well as Sabine Bau and Anja Mueller. From what I remember, the Germans competed fiercely with us at some point, but they almost always lost.
    • Shemyakina won a bronze medal in 2014 Worlds and was one of our leader but leave the squad due to pregnancy (she has 2 daughters if I'm not mistaking, so she chose family instead of sport). And speaking of foil we have back in the day Sergiy Golubitskyi, who was Olympic silver medalist and won some medals in other competitions and coached his wife Caroline Golubitskyi - one of the German foil specialists. Even in women's foil we had medal in Women's foil at the European championship - it was Olha Leleiko, our current national coach. So no, we are pretty good fencing country, and depending on generations of our athletes some events are more "profitable" for us and some don't.
    • Shemyakina that was a very strange story. She unexpectedly won the games but before and after she literally achieved nothing. After that success in 2012 she also completely disappeared. It's only in epee that such strange situations. That's why I've always preferred foil and sabre, because the top was more stable there, although that's changing now. The competition has grown a lot all over the world.
    • Sinner probably won't play in another edition of the Davis Cup. That shouldn't come as a surprise. Next season, Wimbledon and maybe Paris should be the goal.
    • No, our epee was good always, we have Shemyakina, who was Olympic Champion in 2012, Reizlin with bronze in 2020, medalists of Worlds like Kryvytska (who is our finisher today), Svichkar (who is our finisher in men's side) and Stankevych, European champion Kharkova, medals in other conpetitions from men's team epee who were one of the main contenders in Tokyo, but unfortunately failed to take a medal.
    • Does Ukraine have good relations with Poland, or are they more cold, like, for example, Italy with France?
    • Until recently, Ukrainian fencing was just Kharlan and sabre. Maybe epee sometimes. I don't remember them ever was strong in foil. There was a time when Russia, Romania and Poland were strong in foil at that time when Italy dominated but I don't remember Ukraine anymore.   Hungarian women with Aida Mahomed were too strong for many years.
    • No surprise with Aaron Judge winning AL MVP and Shohei Ohtani winning NL MVP awards.   Ohtani is the second player in history to win MVP in both leagues. Frank Robinson (1961 Reds & 1966 Orioles) was the only one before.
    • Ukraine twice in one day defeated Italy and France, like what the heck?
