How many medals do you expect from your Nation at the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024?

Recommended Posts

Im just hoping for Albania's first ever Olympic medal!

That would be enough for this round :champion:

18-20. 5 golds.

We arguably have a much stronger team than we did in Tokyo (despite -80 or so athletes) but my bet is that the majority of our medal hopes will flop, despite having a ton of chances.

(… No I don’t actual think this will be realistic, but better to have low expectations than high expectations)

Well, I'd say something like 5-6 medals for my country, Greece, (hopefully) including a couple of golds. What's your take on this, guys? 🤔

If anyone wants a start, look at Totallympics' Medal Tracker from previous World Championships.

Obviously some sports will need to be adjusted (particularly swimming since many athletes skipped 2024 Worlds), but it's a good place to get a ballpark range.

I’d say you probably know best :d

But I’m curious to what events. Tentoglou in men’s long jump, men’s waterpolo team, women’s waterpolo team, few medal contenders in shooting, Ntouskos in men’s single sculls, few medal contenders in tennis, Petrounias in men’s rings, Kurugliev in men’s 86kg are all medal chances

Very pessimistic prediction regarding the number of gold medals. It's not impossible, but it should be very sad that at least one of Medina, Beatriz Ferreira, Mayra Aguiar, Rayssa or Duda/Ana P. doesn't win gold.

Duda/AP are in horrific form (by their standards) right now, I can’t see them winning gold.

Barbora/Carol are much more likely.

Wish: Break the Barcelona 1992 record of 22 medals, and we definitely have the potential to get ≈25.

Prediction: 20. Second best but not enough to break the record. Less than our average of 17-18 would be a disappointment.

Nonsense, my man.

why do so many Dutch on this website underestimate your team so much? You guys are class right across the board imo

The Dutch are the Australia of Europe - sports mad eternal over-achievers. Dear god they even try cricket and hockey and do it well. We're screwed if they properly discover rugby.

You are so knowledgeable about Greek sports. I'm impressed! And I more or less agree with you on the medal prospects you mentioned.

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
    • After looking at the entry list of athletes in the official website, I've changed some of my predictions in the Olympic events with these changes:   Total Tally: Thailand 87, Singapore 51, Vietnam 48, Indonesia 33, Philippines 24, Malaysia 22, Cambodia 1     Badminton (5): Malaysia 2, Thailand 1, Singapore 1, Indonesia 1   Men’s Singles: Switched from Thailand to Singapore     Boxing (11): Thailand 8, Philippines 2, Vietnam 1   Men: -54 kg (-55 kg): Thailand, -60 kg: Thailand, -63.5 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -69 kg (-70 kg): Thailand, -80 kg: Philippines   Women: -50 kg (-51 kg): Thailand, -54 kg: Thailand, -57 kg: Thailand, -60 kg: Vietnam, -66 kg (-65 kg): Thailand, -70 kg: Philippines     Sailing (7): Thailand 4, Singapore 2, Malaysia 1   ICLA 6: Switched from Thailand to Malaysia     Taekwondo (8): Thailand 6, Vietnam 2   -67 kg: Switched from  Vietnam to Thailand     Weightlifting (5): Thailand 2, Philippines 1, Indonesia 1, Malaysia 1   Men: -65 kg: Malaysia, -94 kg (-95 kg): Thailand   Women: -53 kg: Thailand, -69 kg: Philippines, -77 kg: Indonesia   * I saw that they have actually change the weight categories to almost match that of IWF newly introduced categories from several months ago.      Wrestling (12): Vietnam 7, Philippines 3, Indonesia 2   Men's Freestyle: -57 kg: Philippines, -65 kg: Vietnam, -74 kg: Vietnam, -86 kg: Philippines Men's Greco-Roman: -67 kg: Indonesia, -77 kg: Vietnam, -87 kg: Indonesia, -97 kg: Vietnam Women's Freestyle: -50 kg: Vietnam, -53 kg: Vietnam, -57 kg: Vietnam, -62 kg: Philippines
    • Many permutations possible in the last game, going to be a nail-biter!  v  is the live game on the Olympic Channel later today.   2025 WCF Curling Olympic Qualification Event – Kelowna, Canada   Team   Wins   Losses   Men       CHN 6   0     P USA 5   1     P JPN 4   2     NED 3   3     PHI 3   3     KOR 2   4     NZL 1   5     POL 0   6
