Fly_like_a_don 1,089 Posted June 2 #12 Share Posted June 2 right at it now. New York born Aaron Jones with a blistering innings. Canada need a miracle now.
JoshMartini007 2,536 Posted June 2 #13 Share Posted June 2 Typically a 195 is a good score in T20 and we were on pace for an easy win. Then after the 8th over it all came crashing down. The pressure was too much for them. Again we weren't expected to do much, but it is heart breaking to see them lose this way. Josh
Joshi 123 Posted June 2 #14 Share Posted June 2 To be honest that was a comfortable win for the US. 14 balls to spare, 7 wicket win that's a thrashing.
Epic Failure 355 Posted June 2 #15 Share Posted June 2 Yeah, once that 3rd wicket partnership got going it wasn't even close. That's T20 for you.
rajiv 31 Posted June 2 #16 Share Posted June 2 Viewing this with little interest but I used to have the impression that Canada was traditionally stronger than the US in what many here would call Commonwealth type sports like cricket, rugby and (field) hockey. Seems to have changed. Maybe due to changing immigration patterns. mpjmcevoy

That's how it ended, but for a while it looked as if Canada would win by 40 runs. Then it all fell apart. Josh
Gianlu33 4,552 Posted June 3 #18 Share Posted June 3 The first part of the match was very disappointing for Sri Lanka. I expected a much better performance

I expected a much better performance Although I'm always a bit loathe to judge a performance until both sides have batted (as it could be the pitch rather than anything else), Sri Lanka have been hit and miss in T20 in recent years. At the last WC they lost fairly comprehensively to all the top tier sides they played and also lost to Namibia as well.

Agree to an extent, though what's noticable is Canada's particular relative weakness at those sports, preferring baseball, Canadian gridiron football, ice hockey and (for netball, the other commonwealthy team sport), Basketball. As for patterns of immigration, they are probably similar enough. The big difference, really, is Soccer and the number of futbol crazy hispanic Americans, though the sport has clearly reached a tipping point in the US
