Decided to start a new thread dedicated to para sport, so it can be separate from the main sports threads.

Triple silver at the World Triathlon World Cup in Yokohama! Stefan Daniel in men’s PTS5, Kamylle Frenette in women’s PTS5, and Leanne Taylor in women’s PTWC!

Lots of Paralympic sports in action lately, here’s a recap of some of the Canadian results.

Para Athletics World Championships Kobe

Greg Stewart in his return from retirement won silver in men’s F46 shot put, and Cody Fournie also won a silver in men’s T51 100m, earning Canada Paralympic quotas! Bunch of (typical) 4ths as well with Sheriauna Haase in women’s T47 200m, Jesse Zesseu in men’s F37 discus throw, and Fournie in men’s T51 200m.

More Para Athletics

Amanda Rummery with a massive PB of 57.99 in women’s T46 400m at the Franson Last Chance Meet!

Para Cycling World Cup Maniago

In men’s C3 and in women’s T1, Alexandre Hayward and Shelley Gauthier were crowned World Cup Champions. Charles Moreau won bronze in men’s H3 time-trial and Nathan Clement won silver in men’s T1 time-trial.

Wheelchair Fencing World Cup Rio de Janeiro

Trinity Lowthian won gold in women’s category B epee and sabre, and bronze in women’s category B foil, Ryan Roussell won gold in men’s category A sabre, and bronze in men’s category A epee, Sylvie Morel won bronze in women’s category A sabre, and Amber Briar won silver in women’s category A epee and women’s category A foil.

Canadas women’s sitting volleyball team looks to be completely out of form. Mind you, one of our top attackers Jenn Oakes is out injured, but still very concerning for our Paralympic medal hopes.

Let me start off by saying Canada is the current #1. World Super 6 has been going on in Nancy, France this week, I believe it’s the Paralympic venue actually. Canada got demolished by China in straight sets (China is a medal contending winning team, but not this good), then crushed France in straight sets (mediocre team, only qualifying because they’re hosts), lost to Italy in straight sets (unacceptable IMO) after leading 24-18 in set 2, and now lost to Brazil in straight sets (same as the China statement above)

With Jenn Oakes back from injury, Canada wins gold at the Dutch Tournament, their final prep for the Paralympics.

No China, and they didn’t face United States, but still two very good wins against Brazil in the preliminary stage, and in the gold medal match.
