Swimming at the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Recommended Posts

Minimum requirements to host the swimming events:

1. Have running water.

2. Measure the pool.

I hope they at least have point 1 covered.

Japanese media reported the the depth of swimming pool is around 2.2m which is less than 2.5m standard required by FINA and if will affect start and turn.

I thought 2m was the minimum? It's just very rare to not have 3m depth nowawady since deeper pools help with times.

It has been know for years (right when the arena was chosen to host the swimming event actually) that it will be a 2 meter something deph pool.

And then suddently, a japanese guy on twitter heard about it, claim - falsally - it doesn't fit with FINA rules and you gotta a new polemic on your hands. Gotta to love to host the Olympics

Ofc Canada will finish 4 in all 3 Women's relays behind a country that has doped. Insane.

The medal will be reallocated sometime. The IOC will have to decide between USA and China at some point.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has sided with World Aquatics in the case of Cook Islands swimmer Wesley Roberts who, along with his federation, contested the new Universality limits for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

AQUA denied the 27-year-old Cook Islands swimmer a universality place in Paris on the basis of new rules that don’t allow Universality swimmers who have competed at two Olympic Games already. Limiting universality swimmers to two Olympics is a new rule change announced in 2022 along with a maximum age of 30 (as of Dec. 31, 2024), both of which are meant to refocus the initiative on domestic development of young talents who might still break through with Olympic qualifying times.

You mean Australia with Shayna Jack?

The current situation is really interesting. I am excited to see if Bach will step down in 2025 and who might replace him.

    • It’s honestly baffling how bad she was in 2018. Just absolutely lost her head. Real shame too because she is so gifted. I do hope Li Jianrou sends her a Christmas card every year tho, she was absolutely gifted a gold medal by Christie in 2014.
    • Oh I’m not done yet, unfortunately. From the names that could be back but are still injured   Courtney Hoffos Mikael Kingsbury (should be back before the Olympics) Connor Howe (he returned, but nowhere close to his best so his injury is still giving him issues) Connor Bedard Meryeta O’Dine Megan Oldham
