More about the water quality issue.  You've probably seen elsewhere that swim training has had to be cancelled.  However, according to this BBC story, the horrible, terrible, awful idea of going to a duathlon has been dropped.  Options now are to either postpone one or more races, or to transfer the whole show to some pretty, impressionist painting-type village well upstream from major population centres, industrial chemical factories or slaughterhouses.

Should the water quality not reach the required standard, the triathlon events could be postponed for a few days or moved to Vaires-sur-Marne, on the Marne river east of Paris.

Apologies: was relying on the BBC to report a story about a non-football sport accurately which was a foolish mistake on my part.  :spank:

So according to today’s story, which might not be accurate:

1. No training today due to Parisian stinkiness.

2. First option is to postpone the solo triathlon races to Thursday 1 August & Friday 2 August in hope of biblical miracle.

3. Absent divine intervention, triathlon becomes duathlon & the French are left looking like a gang of idiots

4. Open-water swimming, not triathlon, moves to Vaires-sur-Marne ie clean & sparkly the rowing lake

Latest I’ve heard is that there will be a water quality test at 03:30 tomorrow & then a decision will made to either run tomorrow or postpone until 2 August.

Utterly hopeless & insulting to the athletes.

Is it early enough to start telling India doing the triathlon and open water swimming in the Gangnes - or within 500km from that filth - in the 2036 Olympics is a bad idea? :p

If it's not good tomorrow, they can just postpone it for a couple more days. Don't know what the big fuss is about.

Is the chance that big that it'll be good in a couple of days?

As far as i'm aware, it gets dirtier, when it rains. But the next week the forecast is for sunny days, so they have time to "clean it up". The next rain should be on Wednesday the 7th, so plenty of time to get the triathlons done.

I definitely hope you're right, don't want to see a duathlon (I do, but not as replacement for the triathlon) :p

Will be ironic & deserved if :FRA end up losing Golds because of the elimination of swimming legs.

Men’s event postponed until 10.45am on Wednesday 31 July. Women’s still due to take place at 8.00am on that day also. Contingencies remain in place for dates in August.

    • Looks like it was a 'joke' by some online magazine? I can't imagine the actual Metallica was involved in it, that would suck so bad. Worst April Fool's joke I've seen.
    • Playa del Carmen Elite16   Women’s Tournament Gold-  Carol Solberg/Rebecca Cavalcanti Silver-  Terese Cannon/Megan Kraft Bronze-  Kristen Nuss/Taryn Brasher   Shoutout to my new favourite pairing of Hüberli/Kernen, who have backed up their silver at the Yucatán Challenge by recording a quarterfinal finish here by defeating Olympic Champions  Duda/Ana Patricia in straight sets in the round of 12 (to be fair, they looked off all event long, but they also beat Nuss/Brasher). This team definitely has what it takes to be a top 5 team and consistently contending for medals. First time watching Kernen play, all I can say is how is she that good at only 19? She’s gonna be a star in the future.    Men’s Tournament Gold-  Noslen Diaz/Jorge Alayo  Silver-  Tomas Capogrosso/Nicolas Capogrosso  Bronze-  Chaim Schalk/James Shaw    Schalk/Shaw defeated Olympic champions  Ahman/Hellvig in the quarterfinals   Full Results

    • So I was watching a replay of China-Germany in between Canada’s game against Sweden and this one against Italy and… it seems like China cheated during it which could’ve been critical in them winning the match?    During the 1st end, Xu with his last rock had an easy hit for the single against three German stones. One of the sweepers for China (I can’t tell which one, this team is quite new to me) “accidentally” kicked their own stone, which redirected one of their own stones into the rings, and Germany only got the steal of 2. HIS FUCKING FOOT IS TOUCHING THE ROCK   Now after, Team Xu was claiming that the stone was picked (it was not) and Muskatewitz was arguing that it couldn’t possibly have been picked. China wouldn’t admit it, and they ended up winning the game 10-9. BOO.    Hope these cheaters don’t qualify for the Olympics.
    • Edin usually has mediocre seasons though (that being said this has been worse than usual), then really starts to show up for Worlds. He’s only won 4 GSOC events in his career.     They’re at a 4-2 record at the moment, so seems to be the case again. Plus, they played really well in their loss to Canada.

    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
