It appears the seedings will be determined upon an aggregate score of both last season and this "regular" season (so until Singapore). Will it be a random draw ? In this scenario I hope the bracket will be determined thanks to the serpentine method. Current SVNS bracket is determined by your pool, with top seeds taking place in the three pools by order, the other teams being drawn randomly then. I guess they'll use the same system here, which is a bit unfair.

At the moment it would mean :

1st pot :

:NZL 273

:ARG 273

:FIJ 232

2nd pot :

:FRA 225

:AUS 202

:IRL 200

3rd pot :

(:RSA 178)

:SAM 159

:USA 142

(:GBR 137)

(:ESP 90)

4th pot :

:URU 54

(:CAN 52)

:KEN 40

:JPN 18

Not much to play. The only possible pot change is France overtaking Fiji to claim a top seeding. Should Fiji fail to reach the QF (quite likely at the moment), France would only need to win their QF to overtake them.

Other possibilities include Canada winning the final OQT, which would upgrade Uruguay to pot 3 (quite paradoxically), or a non-core team winning the OQT, with the same consequence.

Rodrigo Isgró got a 5 match suspension from World Rugby for his red card at the SVNS series grand final.

However, if he's called for the union (XV) national team for the June-July international window he'll able to deduct matches from this suspension (yes, international rugby works like that apparently). It's likely that he'll be available to play the olympic tournament from quarterfinals onwards.

Is the knockout bracket fixed or it'll be decided with combined standings like in FQTs?

Group A winner vs. Second-best 3rd-place finisher

Group C runner-up vs. Group B runner-up

Group C winner vs. Group A runner-up

Group B winner vs. Best 3rd-place finisher

    • There is a transgender volleyball player here in Brazil; there was even a recent controversy (this year) when a city banned her from playing in a certain competition, which ended up in court, ultimately in her favor.   But the situation is much simpler than that; the reason for this decision is because of the two female boxers who won at Paris 2024 (who apparently are not transgender).

    • there were rumors about it for quite a while, but as I wrote, it was never confirmed so, it might well be just some haters throwing out some shit on her 🤷
    • Where did you get that?   I'm not sure I would have considered her to have dissapeared from out of nowhere, at least since after Tokyo... she did win medals at the next two World Championships. I think it's just recently, she's been struggling with injury which is why she's completely out of form...
    • Even though I'm not the biggest fan of her, always sucks to see a career ending through injury and not on your own terms
    • This is going to have an effect on very likely 0 athletes, possibly 1 or 2 we don't really know about yet. It's really mostly the cheapest possible way for them to make a sort of political statement, without having any significant backlash since it won't really affect anyone at the top level of international sports.   Edit: worded a bit wrong, I was thrown off by everywhere 'trans women' being mentioned as the target of this. Of course there is also the somewhat larger category of DSD and the likes, which will certainly affect a few athletes - unfortunately they are often thrown under the bus or mentioned as 'not really women anyway' or something like that, despite, you know, being.

    • People focus on trans people because it's easier to pinpoint the affected athletes. Meanwhile it's the athletes with (suspected) DSDs that will have tougher time to convince the authorities and the public opinion that they belong to women's sports.
